Friday O.T. Backyard Archaeology, What is it?

Digging in the side yard putting in some stone edger and dug this up. At first I thought it was an old radio tube but the "tube" isn't glass. It's probably not a bullet for Teddy Roosevelt's elephant gun. I've figured out what it is but before I cut it open to confirm I thought I'd toss it out for guesses, cause Friday!

A lot of those I’ve seen are bigger than that but not quite 3 inches is nothing to be ashamed of.

When we were kids we had an 80 acre pasture right up to our back yard so we would camp out all summer long and had several sites that we used. Later on when it was sold and turned into housing this one guy that worked at the same place as my father told him that he found an old Indian campground in his yard.
My dad decided to just let him believe that and not tell him that those were his kids old campgrounds.

Google image search says it's a cylinder. Those are pretty rare. You should probably take it to an antiquities dealer.
