Harris has proved he can shoot and score at a high major level. Buggs was making a big jump from Hawaii if he came here. I will take a proven commodity over someone moving up 10/10 times.

Shooting be damned, how many highlight reels of the 20+ guards that we didn't get signed this spring were nothing but chucking 3s and long pull-up jumpers?
Eastern's entire highlight reel checks every box to remedy our failures to be aggressive last year. It's closeouts on the perimeter, crashing boards, putbacks, backdoor cuts, and open court steals. I'll take this kid every day of the week, and thrice over on Big Mondays (if we can get him admitted).
Also, being denied admission based on transfer credits just feels like a polite and legal way to rescind a scholarship offer. What you up to, Juwan?

I don't see a problem with that, that's a perfect skill to tout if you wanna get signed by Bill Self.
At 5-9, Harris sure as hell isn't going to address the perimeter defensive efficiency gap post-TH. Buggs can address that gap to a far greater extent than Harris would while also better addressing the offensive facilitator gap. Those two items alone offset, by far, whatever advantage Harris may provide with his outside shooting.

Because that was what Buggs wanted. Your argument is reasonable or good if Buggs wanted that role as distributor and defensive grinder, but that was not his plan.

Agree Nojel is much better than Buggs, but how is Nojel 0% from three last two years better than Buggs? I agree with your opinion though Buggs is below ave shooter, and not in same planet as Nojel defensively.

In regards to assistants, Prohm does not need X and O help on offense. Imo he needs help getting 18-23 year olds to do things that aren’t as alluring as scoring. I get the impression Prohm knows defense, he’s struggling to get players to play it. A tough task. I don’t know how guys like Beard do that, it cannot be easy or enjoyable imo.
I am guessing we won't get Eastern, but its laughable some on here don't think he's worth offering. 2 open scholarships; yeah he's not great on offense, but he was all Big-10 defense, and we were comically bad on defense last year.

Any lead facilitator is going to have +20% usage when he is on the court.
If he was signed instead of Harris, he would be the projected starter at PG over Jackson and Walker and get at least 30 MPG. If he was recruited over like Harris would have been with Gach, he could have departed ISU before Fall classes started.
The only scenario where he wouldn't start would be if Prohm started Bolton, JCL, Johnson, Foster and Conditt/Solo. That lineup only happens if Bolton/Johnson are effective co-facilitators but I question if Prohm could effectively coach up that type of 2 big lineup and not have a clear lead facilitator for the first time in his head coaching career. And if no one else is added this summer, that should be the target lineup because Harris, Jackson or Walker aren't going to cut it as starters on a NCAA tourney quality team.
Harris, Bolton, JCL, Johnson, Young would be our starting lineup with or without Buggs.
Harris shot 38% on 2’s last year and averaged .8 assists/game. I think he can/will be a rotation guy for us, but he is not a point guard and doesn’t shoot or rebound well. I’m hoping Prohm has some unique plan for the upcoming year because we may not have anybody that can run an offense.
Our adjusted offensive efficiency last year did not dip once Tyrese went out.

THe problem with your scenario is Prohm evaluated Buggs and decided he wouldn't start next year and thus slow played him for other players who he thought would play more getting 2 Harris Coleman Lands.
You can disagree with his assessment and role he he should fit on a team but if a coach doesn't truely believe in a player he won't play. At least with Harris we know Prohm is a big fan and will give him every opportunity to maximize on his potential which is higher than Buggs.
