Tell you why they will get grief? Turn on the tv. Circle back after you are caught up.
I'm not sure I want to get " caught up" thank you though. Believe what you want if you listen to everything the liberal media puts out. Two sides to every story. The media is just biased to 95% of one side. How can that be accurate?

What kind of movement are we talking about? I truly do not believe most blacks condone tit for tat and violence but some can't really can't help it because the liberal media says it's basically OK, violence, looting, etc. They might be following the hate mongering of antifa-esque socialist followers, way to go! Those are merely trying to raise their agenda not to the benefit of African Americans, IMO. We are better than that I think but need to think a little before acting out.

I do appreciate the sincerity and cause of Blacks and African Americans and civil rights. I and most white Americans don't fully understand, I agree, but we are not the problem, the majority of whites anyway.

So the way our country is going now is not the answer. Looting, rioting, and killing of our Police is not the way either. If a player like this, high profile, wants to protest in this way, more power to him. I just hope he/she is sure of his reasons. Unfortunately I feel they are being used by others who wish to condone violence and anarchy, for their misguided agenda.

OK rant over.

I admire your courage.

I guess what I'm saying is if enough athletes are willing to say the rest of my and my family's life are more important then the next football season they could bring athletic departments to their knees. Universities have already stated they may not be able to survive a lost football season. No justice no football may ring deeper to promote real change.

Wait, hold up. What part of this news causes any sort of internal thought or debate as to whether or not this kid will stay on, or deserve, a scholarship? Scholarship status wasn’t even mentioned, and I’m sure it wasn’t even on Eagles’ or Herman’s minds as they released their statements.

What an impressively petty leap in judgement to make.

Understood and I appreciate your opinion and thought. I am just trying to wrap my head around what kind of justice we might be talking about? Just against this MN cop, etc, or something further? I I truly believe something further is important and needed but I have a hard time getting on that wagon when there is rioting, looting and killing of police. One wrong does not make a right.

So many things wrong with this post, I guess I just will not comment. It does however, explain a lot about what is wrong with our country.

You know....each to their own. But it wasn't that long ago blacks could only dream of being where he is. And he is going to give it up for a "cause". You think his grandfather's generation and before who dealt with crap MUCH worse than he will ever know thought that way? That's right....because they couldn't. Couldn't play or protest. Now however....thanks to those before him doing exactly what Stallone preached to his son in "Rocky Balboa" about how winning is done....a black man(him) CAN chose between a profession or a "cause". America has come a long way. Good luck to him in his endeavors.

I hate Tom Herman with the passion of a thousand suns, but he had probably the best take on the whole thing that I've heard.
I was thinking the same. Why did He have to go and do that? Kidding of course.

Should I ignore this? Can't really. You just slammed me and many who think like me. I guess you cannot really comment because then you would have to agree it is not right to kill cops, riot, or loot. So instead all you can say is that my comments were ridiculous and paraphrase that my opinions and beliefs are what is wrong with this country. Perfect! Nice talking to you.

This sounds awful but, I think if they did take his scholarship it would do more for the movement. Can you imagine the headline. Blue blood Texes doesn't support their minority athletes.

I'm not sure what to think about this. I sympathize, but also, what about everybody else on the team? What about the walkon who might need that schollie money? What about damaging your career by not playing? Why not just quit football entirely? If you won't play, isn't that what you are doing? Its just a strange choice.

I guess my thought is that not playing at all is not a very good way to make your point.

What about not starting the game, take the first play off? Maybe pick a different jersey number that represents something that makes your point. Both those things would get brought up by media every single game, draw the attention to your cause. I think a different form of making your point makes more sense to me.

This dudes coach had the most well thought out and to-the-point take of any coach I've seen throughout the last couple weeks. This just doesn't seem like a rational stance from him. I mean, if you don't want to play, that's your prerogative but I don't see how it helps anything when your coach, at least publicly, seems to really get the issue.

Also, while college football is obviously a HUGE money business, these individual players aren't worth as much, financially, as they think they are. Sure, there are your Tebow, Newton, etc exceptions, but if that guy doesn't play, someone is ready to step in, especially at UT. He's much better off being relevant on the field and parlaying that into growing his social platform. If he quits, that platform is gone since he's caught 33 balls in his career and even the average Big 12 fan has no idea who he is.

Iowa would be a different situation as it seems there are problems. He doesn't indicate there are any problems at UT.
