Football seats are protected UPDATE 6.1.20

No chance in hell that happens.
The first game is still 3 months away, thats a lot of time for things to change (in either direction).
JP did say if the season started today, capacity would probably be 50%. It’s not out of question that % increases in 3 months. Like some already said, if you allow 30K, there’s not much difference in safety of allowing more.

Argent, it's a photo that's over a 100 years old. I don't think you need to go all CSI on it.

Optimistic, I question everything, just in case you haven't noticed. It's kinda annoying to some.

Just watched the part from Pollard's comments till the end and I sure hope all the optimism he has about playing football and at least having 30k fans in the stands happens. It was refreshing to finally hear someone with a positive take on things as seems like all we hear in the media these days is negativity and talk of how certain things won't happen. I'll just leave it at that as I don't want this to turn political but I was very pleased with the approach and thought process Jamie seems to have about this and keeping the hope alive that we will have college football in some form this fall and hopefully with fans in the stands as well.

Today's letter

Dear Football Season Ticketholders and Cyclone Club Members,

We thought it was important to update you on the seating and parking selection processes for 2020.

Football Seating Selections:

• Due to the plan we announced last week for the upcoming football season (limited capacity), and because any season ticketholder who does not renew their season tickets for 2020 will continue to have first rights on their same seats for 2021, we will NOT be offering an online seating selection process this year to choose or improve your seat locations.
• All season ticket holders who renewed their tickets for 2020, will be assigned the same locations as 2019. We are planning to designate an area in the stadium as a safe zone where we will not sell any tickets. Fans that attend games who are uncomfortable with the social distancing in their assigned seating section can move to the safe zone which will allow more social distancing.
• We anticipate that mobile pass season ticket locations and delivery will be the same as past years.
• The ticket office will contact new season tickets purchasers (orders placed prior to May 26) with the status of their request. New season ticket requests (if seats are available) will be assigned in open seats based on Cyclone Club donation level and priority points (please note that “open” does not include any seats that were not were renewed in 2020).
• The ticket office will contact existing season ticketholders who requested additional season tickets (orders placed prior to May 26) if we are able to accommodate their requests.

Football Parking Lot Selections:

• The online parking lot selection process also will NOT be offered this year.
• The Cyclone Club will assign all donors to the best available parking lot based on your current donor level and priority points.
• Your parking location from 2019 will be considered, and we will make every attempt to accommodate your past preferences while also considering your current donor level. Specific request for 2020 will not be accepted. Cyclone Club members with reserved parking stalls will be assigned the same locations as 2019.
• Our intention is to control capacity within the parking lots to the extent that we can (based on renewals and numbers), to encourage a safe environment for those who want to tailgate responsibly, as well as those that do not plan to tailgate.
• Parking locations will be finalized later this summer and will be communicated at that time.

Additional information regarding the delivery date of season tickets and parking passes will be announced this summer once details are finalized.

We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these unprecedented times in 2020. Please know we anticipate offering online seating and parking selections again in 2021.

Thank you again for your continued support of Iowa State Athletics!

Go Cyclones,

Athletics Ticket Office & Cyclone Club Staff

I was hoping they would allow seat selection / improvements this year, even if it meant you could lose those seats next year.

Nothing will be stopping you from sitting in any open seat (roughly half the stadium). Just like when I went to a KU game, it didn't matter where my seat was. I could sit anywhere.

I LOVE the idea of a section for people that don’t think they have enough space where they are assigned.

I do not like having to rely on the Ticket Office for my Parking Lot selection. We pick below "better lots" because we want to be where we want to be. I'm afraid someone in the Ticket Office will give us an "upgrade" that we don't want. Hopefully, they are able to stick with our choice for the last several years.

We, do, too, and so do my parents. Ticket office even asked them more than once if they didn't want to have a spot closer to the stadium (not the individual spots) and they keep saying no. We use their pass and so want both of ours together, anyway. I said to DH I hope the ticket office looks at the history of our parking lot choice.

If not, I bet you can make a trade as a lot of people would be willing to trade up.

Until a whole lotta people want to move there. I think this probably depends on where this space is. If less desirable (than normal seating location), people will have a harder choice to make. If more desirable, it might be "seating to the fastest" section.

The letter mentioned they will look at your 2019 parking preference

ha! I guess I doubt it will be better seats. But maybe a section where people will actually wear masks.

Hope it doesn't come to having to trade to get the lot I want. That $ound$ like it might get expen$ive.

I would guess (hope) that everyone will get their 2019 location if they still qualify for it based on donation level.

I hope they pay attention to our 2019 location. Just maybe this will be a way to protect it so that no one else sneaks in to take our spot.

Well my group made the mistake of significantly increasing our donation level to find out we won't be able to upgrade our seats at all, even if its only temporary for one year. If we get stuck in G7 again then it will have been completely pointless.
