Yes it is. But at least on my phone, It appears to leave only one space after the period if you double tap the spaceba . Sometimes, it deletes the last letter for some reason to .
This is a sentence with space bar tap twic . And it only left one space and deleated the e for some reason. Just running into all kinds of problems.
Also, you know how much time you would save by only adding one space at the end of your sentences? At least 3 seconds by the time a paper is done.
Double spacing can also help differentiate between a period in the middle of a sentence (abbreviation) and at the end of a sentence.
I hated the look of double-space even in my Typewriter Days. (Same thing with two spaces following a colon).
It's weird. When I read your post it shows up with only one space. When I click on reply to mock you for using one space in your post defending the use of two spaces i see two spaces. I will attach screen shots of what I see. I guess the all powerful technology doesnt even know.

You do realize hitting space twice at the end of a sentence on mobile only gives you one space after the period right? The first space gets converted to the period.
It is 2 spaces, but because the youth of today is not taught properly and needs everything to be easy for them, one is now accepted.
