Whoa.
it’s almost like we haven’t reacted to this well.
Whoa.
Devastatingly damning considering Reynolds spent the last part of today's press conference imploring people to hold on for just two more weeks. That model says June 29, and that is with extensive testing, contact tracing, etc. which - let's just put this generously - seems unlikely to happen.
I speculated yesterday that Reynolds turned down the invitation to join Wisconsin, Illinois, et al because she didn't want to be embarrassed when we lagged so far behind their progress, and welp:
Time to open up Iowa. This was the biggest exaggeration of all time. University of Stanford has done the most in-depth review and they haven’t played party lines. They have continued to show the data that this virus is a complete overreaction.
How anyone can believe what they state on Fox News or Breitbart but not on CNN is beyond my comprehension.Sorry its not up to the standards of Fox Entertainment or Breitbart.
On CNN they are saying we are one of the states that may need social distancing in place through end of July.
-Hygiene practices being used now should be implemented forever
-Masks should be worn once things open up by everybody for at least a few weeks
-We need to permanently adopt the cultural norm in many Asian countries that if you have any symptoms of any sickness you stay home if at all possible and if you have to go out wear a mask
Sorry its not up to the standards of Fox Entertainment or Breitbart.
Listened to black hawk county press conference. They are pissed. We’ve got a big mess on our hands with Tyson’s. They don’t think the governor is acting in good faith when it relates to Tyson’s.
going to need a major shift from employers to stop viewing as people taking sick days as weak or unreliable. Coming to work sick should not be some sort of badge of honor.

Dude. CNN is a joke. Fox is biased too, but CNN is a flat out joke right now. It's like they're cheering for Armageddon just so they can beat Trump.

That doesn't mean we can't open things back up. All three stages suggest social distancing.
I agree with what you're saying except point 2B. We could endure the current circumstances longer, but not forever. Logistically, we can't. We would run out of the things we need to live and effectively fight the virus. In terms of morale, we're already seeing large groups of people actively pushing back against quarantine measures. The difference between this and the London Blitz is that we aren't having bombs dropping in neighborhoods to continually remind people that it is dangerous. If people don't have a regular reminder of the personal danger to themselves, they will not be willing to continue extreme safety measures.
We can slow the spread of the virus, but that does not mean that there is not a number of people who will die. Unless we completely stop the virus, then there are a certain number of people who will die even with current or stricter measures. People are dying now, even in the places with the strictest quarantines. There are a certain number of people who will die, regardless of what we do.
I don't think it's foolish to start talking about reducing mitigation strategies. I think the opposite is true - people need to know that there is a plan and a strategy to rachet things down. If people can see a light at the end of the tunnel, they will push harder to get there. If we have specific goals - i.e. increasing testing to some certain level that we need to hit before re-opening, let's announce those. Then people know what we need and can work toward it and/or push politicians for it.

Lies somewhere in between. Tyson shipping people between plants was reckless and they out and out lied about it to every agency that asked. The governor didn't put enough pressure on them to get the real truth and over. Frankly, meat packing plants in this state have been allowed to pretty much do whatever they want because its so vital to the economy and you're not going to get a lot of people that want to work in that environment without bending some labor and immigration laws.
Also, keep in mind the political affiliation of every person that spoke today and the fact that Thompson is going to have a very competitve race to keep the sherriff's office this fall.
Are local outlets reporting an increase in Iowa?
Living in CA and having most of my family in Iowa I've compared the cases and deaths per million daily.
Both states have been in the middle or slightly better than average per person for most of the outbreak but in the last few days Iowa cases per million have matched or passed CA's for the first time.
Maybe they all just don't have the same information the governor has.
Cable news in general is ridiculous but Fox is on a completely different level. I only see short clips here and there of any cable news so I can't comment on CNN openly rooting for armageddon. What specifically have they said? I actually think CNN takes it way too easy on Trump considering the way he's talked to and about them the entire time he's been in office. That and the fact he's an unfit lying sack of **** who deserves to be called out and dragged every time he opens his mouth.Dude. CNN is a joke.
