How does Javon Johnson look?

I guess better is pretty subjective. Bowie made 17 threes total in 4 years of college basketball, but did shoot 33.3 % at ISU. You are correct though. We shouldn't be expecting him to be 20 and 10 guy. Unfortunately for him and prohm, that is what we need.

Johnson doesn't need to be a star for next year's team to be successful -- defining success as making the NCAA tournament. I would hope.

Bolton, Young, and Conditt need to be stars. One or two of the freshmen having a nice season, in the vague range of TH as a freshman, would help.

Johnson needs to be a good role player. It is the returning guys that need to shine.

It is subjective and I had to go back and look at Bowie's stats, because I swear he took more 3s while he was here. Not a great looking shot, I recall the tv analysts bagging on him every one of those 15 times he took one, whether he made them or not.

In any case, Johnson will be a higher volume 3 point shooter. And 33.3% would hopefully be the low end of the spectrum for him

Same I definitely looked his stats up as well. For some reason when I first replied I was thinking you had said a little better, and not just better. Cause Bowie was so low volume being a little better wouldn't mean much.

I would love if Johnson averaged 8.5 pts, 4 rebounds, while helping out a ton on the defensive end. If he's going to be a starter and he can put up that I'd be extremely happy.

I expect him to start and average 8-10 and 4-5

If he averaged 10 and 5 we are in major trouble. He averaged that at Troy, actually think he averaged 10 and 4 at Troy and they were a last place team. I hope I am wrong but 10 and 5 would be going off for a kid that averaged 10 and 4 and a low mid major.

Yeah we definitely need some good role players. I just foresee him getting **** on next year for not being great. Right now we need a lot of things to turn out right to make the NCAA. Since I doubt all those things will turn out, players will be asked to do more than they are able. Prohm has too many holes to fill.

BTW I expect him to be Lewis with better defense. 6 and 3 guy. If our team brings in no more talent than what we currently have. He might be a little higher. I expect to bring in a few more guys for next season though.

If we're expecting him to be the best or second best player, 10 and 5 is low. If we're expecting him to be a solid starter and is 3rd or 4th on the team in scoring, I'd take 10 and 5 in a heart beat.

Having a guy be capable of hitting a corner three is more important than the numbers. Jacobsen wasn't respected from the perimeter so defenses were allowed to cheat off of him. If he can have a good enough shot to keep defenses honest, that'll help the other guys put up the numbers we need.

With all the discussion of how good will Johnson be, or how good could we even expect any juco or transfer to be, I’m more concerned about leadership. I mean, who on the team will be a true leader now that Tyrese is probably gone? I realize players can step up from previous years, but I miss the players who took on huge leadership roles from the past. With so much turnover, I realize that becomes harder to do. Like Solo when he's a force, but not sure he's a true leader. Even when you bring in an experienced grad transfer, it often requires time, chemistry, etc. Who will be next year's team leader? Who will keep the group positive and confident when the typical negatives start flying at the team or the coach?

after this year, the bar is set pretty low, in terms of expectations, 10-12 points a game and a field goal percentage over 35, would be incredible.

Being an elite distributor without anyone to distribute to is tough.

I do not think we have any JoBo types out there -- guys so limited as athletes or in terms of size they are never going to be a remotely good defender.

We just suck at team concepts, rotations, and protecting the defensive glass. Teams get easy looks and way too many second chances on us.
A Nixon, Bolton, Jackson, Jacobson, Young lineup is three ~6'ers, and two center bodies, one who's 6'8" and the other closer to 6'7" (Solo). We're seriously hurt by having two 6'6" wings that can't defend leaving a size gap, but even then we're athletically limited and height challenged. Maybe we should pressed more this year, at least early on when we had bodies.

We know we'll have 8-9 new faces (counting Johnson) next year, but I love that the confirmed guys are three 6'5"s, a 6'7" and a talented post. That's a great step towards rebalancing the roster to compete defensively. The only recruit who's agility I question is Dubar, but he's well-built so that's a plus.

I think Prohm's scheme dares teams to shoot over them, so length is vital.

I saw this guy out a couple times and was like “is this guy seriously what we recruit?” Toothpick thin. I literally expect nothing from him. He didn’t put up good numbers at troy and now he’s living the life at a p5 school. So I see why he’s not in any sit out rankings per ESPN

So Your girl went home with him. Not shocking.

Who are the confirmed guys?
