The way the AD can save face on the funnel logo is to wear a throwback uniform with the old logo. When everyone loves it, they decide to adopt a "modernized version" without the cursive Iowa State.

I know I'm in the minority but I've never liked the old school Cyclone. A cyclone should look like it's spinning, not unraveling. But I also don't care for the new Cyclone either, too fat and stationary looking.

I don't think that this is even a choice. Don't know if I'd call them timeless, but I don't care for the beveling on the old I-State and hate the bugle and Bucky-Cy. I do think that the oval Cy as a secondary logo has grown on me some.

The timeless "Cyclone" will never happen because the AD didn't come up with it and they probably paid some graphic design firm a six figure fee to come up with the bugle.

ISU has never been good at finding a 'look' that stuck.

To make matters worse the B12 in general is really bad at its advertisements. I wonder if the same people designing these things have any correlation or connections with the same people who came up with the 'Legends and Leaders' divisions for the B1G when it first added Nebraska.

Timeless notes:

• I-State logo font was updated (see A/E)
• New Cyclone by Friendan Design (IG)
• Cy's dated boots removed to show talons & chest logo slightly changed to be new "I" shape

All 3 logos together represent last 50 years of ISU sports, from the great 1970s football teams, to Johnny Orr and Hilton Magic, to our current Cyclones.
