If not playing him because he’s bad at basketball is a valid reason, then ISU should only be playing 2 guys. Saying Bolton is a terrible defender and gives up so many offensive rebounds is not comparing him to Lewis. It’s defending Lewis by saying even our best players are lost on defense.
Lewis is by far our worst defender. You understand that right? Like you can't compare him to our other players defense

If Lewis is guarding someone, that guy probably scores. If someone else guards that guy, he probably scores. Lewis is a horrible defender and everyone else is very bad. The end result is buckets regardless.
That's like saying Grill shooting a 3 is the same as Jackson shooting a 3 because both end results are probably the same even though one is shooting 17.2% and the other is shooting 33.9%
Today I found out that Iowa State gets stops on defense as long as Lewis isn’t on the court. I must be watching a different Iowa State team than you. I’m watching teams get buckets on us regardless of who plays.
I am convinced that Nixon is the worst. He cannot shoot, he has a poor shot selection, and he is horrible on defense most of the time.
he is also one of the best offensive players. And is affect on offense outweighs his bad defense. Let's face it. The whole team is bad at defense but most of them are also bad at offense.
I’m not the one saying a certain player shouldn’t play because they are a worse 3point shooter than someone who plays more than them. That’s what you’re doing with Lewis and defense. I’m not sure how 3 point shooting is relevant in this argument. If it is relevant, shouldn’t that mean Lewis should play more than Nixon and Jacobson because he’s a better shooter?
No but you're saying our whole team is bad at defense so it doesn't matter that Lewis is way worse than all of them. That's like saying the whole team is bad at shooting so it doesn't matter if Grill is shooting instead of Jackson or Bolton
You say he can't shoot yet he is 2nd on the team (3rd if you count steyers 1 make) in fg percentage behind conditt. In just 12 minutes he was 3rd in scoring for our team. Boohoo he watched the other team get a rebound. He had as many rebounds as Solomon young, who played 8 more minutes and had zero points. Tre Jackson, our starter, had 0 rebounds, took more shots, and had less points.
Lewis scored as much in 12 minutes as 3 of our starters combined. Our entire team is a joke defensively. Lewis who barely plays doesn't get to be the blame for that.

They're not slightly better defenders than him. They're way better. Lewis is literally the only one who doesn't understand simple defensive concepts AND gives zero effort defensively. Bolton is 3rd on the team in DWS, Nixon is 4th and Jacobson is 6th. Lewis is last
Last night, while I did see lapses from TLew, statistically, only Haliburton and Griffin had better defensive ratings than him for the game. Every other guy who saw the floor was worse defensively.
Haliburton, Jacobson, Nixon and Bolton had better offensive ratings. Everyone else was worse.
From a rebounding perspective, Conditt and Jacobson had better effective total rebounding percentages. Only Jacobson had a better effective defensive rebounding percentage. Everyone else was worse.
The above points are statistically unbiased. Take them however you want.

Being 3rd, 4th and 6th on this team isn’t saying much. That doesn’t mean they are good defenders. They are getting scored on too. There’s a reason why we have given up 80+ on many losses even when Lewis doesn’t play 1 minute.
