New FB Coach - Mike McCall

Wasn't he fired from Northwestern due to his lack of creativity?

That was a reason but was more too it than just that. There were many reasons, including injuries this year that really put the damper on their offense and they under performed. To me, it was more of a we need to fire someone to make it look good.

you hope our OC who produced the most productive offense in 50 years has limited duties?

bro..

Yes, but I feel like we have a problem with averages and ISU history here. There were some games where the plan worked great, in other games it was nearly awful. And that is with the most NFL talent we've had in, well, ever. They need some in game and adjustments help. And so any new OC ideas is a good thing. Hopefully they can get this worked out.

. . .
Author likely thought stating the staff a second time was redundant.....
I'm not sure a lot of sports writers know what "redundant" is.
In contrast, every one of them knows what a run-on-parenthetical-sentence-shoehorned-into-a-run-on-sentence-with-the-barest-of-relationship is.

I feel like this is a great hire. Lots of offensive coaching experience. People forget Manning is still somewhat inexperienced O-Coordinator. This can only help him. Midwest recruiting ties. Able to develop under the radar guys. Unless he is a colossal ******* like Klenakis then I am excited.

They haven't really had a good offense in 10 years. I went and looked at FEI and they're overall offense has been pretty much the Rhoads era offense with one really good year 10 years ago. Northwestern has done what they've done due to very good defense.

I'm working solely off memory here, but I seem to remember Northwestern having some pretty good offenses in years past.

Just for information regarding this discussion, here's the last 10 years Northwestern offense FEI ranks:

124, 85, 66, 49, 113, 98, 75, 47, 47, 18

For reference, here's ISU

22, 50, 39, 53, 69, 67, 76, 71, 88, 81
