*** Official IOWA STATE Vs #2 Baylor Game(Day) Thread ***

I don't think anyone on the team is accepting failure. I do think some fans are accepting it, however.

I think many if not most at least on CF are at a point where if next year is a similar result, a change would be welcomed.

Off the top of my head, Tubby Smith was fired at Minnesota the year they made the tournament and the round of 32. Travis Ford also was fired at Oklahoma State after making the tourney 3 years in a row and missing it the last year.
Ford actually has put St. Louis back on the map since then, too. He was unemployed for a whopping, like, 2 weeks after leaving OSU. Tubby bounced around all over hell and never really accomplished anything else.

he's been good at it his whole life.

He was 55-147 in THREE seasons at UVA. That's hardly his "whole life". And you are probably without knowing it giving Prohm a huge compliment for somehow seeing that if we could just unchain this guy he would be special. Because I don't care the percentage.......that is hardly sample size enough to say........."oh wow"!

Frankly, I don't want Prohm fired unless we're opening the books for a big, known hire poached from somewhere else. If we're taking on his massive buyout just to hire another mid-major coach for pennies, we're just praying for another miracle.

I don't see us opening the books right now, and in that case, I think of rather have the continuity for one more season (and more hiring money later) instead of setting up to do it all again in 4 years or so by going cheap. Another obvious problem with ISU's program is we haven't kept a coach since Orr, for various reasons. Hard to build a program this way.
Money is my worry too. Especially with where buyouts are right now (Steve ~$6 mill), but my fear is the program sinking to McDermott levels due to financial constraints.

Close as I can get. It wasn't a job offer, but it was an offer to interview for the job, which is what Chicago offered him before he hopped on that plane at AMW.

I do know that he was offered to interview for it and turned it down from a conversation I've had with someone very close to the family.

So no job offer like you originally said? Huge difference between offered the job and offered an opportunity to interview. Holy ****.

He was 71-184 last season alone. I think his numbers in the three seasons before would've been a lot better at a program that was more offensively focused.

You clearly don't get it. It's like when Chicago offered him to fly on a private jet to interview for the job, and he accepted, but in this case, they flew him and his wife out to Wine Country, asked if he was interested in interviewing, and he said not yet. He was their first choice, but wanted to wine and dine him first.

You're making **** up.

At ISU.......under Prohm......you are correct. Thank you.
This is a dumb argument. He would've put up the same numbers anywhere else with similar offensive freedom. It's not like Steve was holding his hand while he was taking those shots.

Or.. are you implying that Tony Bennett is a bad coach? Because correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he just win a title last year?
