Performers may be honored multiple times, but please choose songs that haven’t already been posted.

Dean Ford passed away 12/31/18. So he missed any kind of year end coverage last year.

Dean Ford was the lead singer of the Scottish pop group Marmalade.

While they only had one big hit here, they had NINE (9) top ten hits in the UK between 1968 and 1976

Their big one here was Reflections of My Life. This remains one of my all time favorite songs and I actually did own this album back in the day. One of very few I was able to accumulate prior to working part time at HyVee about two years later and making some decent spending money.

Here's that song dating from the period of its popularity along with another updated version not too much before Mr. Ford's passing.

D*ck Dale (May 4, 1937-March 16, 2019)

“The King of Surf Guitar.” What an innovator. No one plays quite the way he did. Notable: He helped Fender produce the first 100-watt guitar amp.

Chuck Barksdale was a member of the legendary Chicago Doo-Wop group the Dells.

I’m splitting this tribute into two parts --- as frontman for The Cars and in his role as music producer.

Part 1 -- Cars songs written by Ocasek ... one song each from 3 albums. I could post so many more.

George Chambers was, obviously, one of the Chambers Brothers. Yes, Black psychedelic music was a thing. Remember the Temptations Psychedelic Shack?

“Do The Collapse”
A radical move (at the time) away from the low-fi roots into polished sound. It got mixed reviews, but Ocasek did a decent job of making it sound radio-friendly without losing all the prior charm

Label definitely fits. .... Apparently, as a surfer he basically tried to transfer the feel of surfing into his music. I've never surfed, but I'm guessing he succeeded at creating the auditory parallel.

My second artist following in footsteps of the Rulzzz roundup.

Peter Tork, The Monkees (February 13, 1942-February 21, 2019)

Eldest member the Pre-Fab Four, Tork got strapped with “lovable dummy” role on the TV series (apparently he developed a similar persona as a folk music prior to landing a spot on the show). Probably the group’s most accomplished musician --- adept at guitar, bass, piano, banjo and harpsichord.

He played banjo on this song (written & sung by Mike Nesmith)



Two songs written by Tork for The Monkees, both from "Head." He also had several co-writes w/ bandmates and outside songwriters throughout the band's tenure.

Had no idea Ocasek was apart of Guided by Voices. Ahh Teenage FBI from the 2006 NCAA Football soundtrack - imo the best video game soundtrack which also included Bad Religion, De la Soul, Pixies, Jawbreaker, Lush, Mother Love Bone and several others.
