With the win over Kansas CMC will now have a [career] winning record at the end of the season.

Just because the thread title wasn’t clear, a career winning record at ISU.

(I thought it was about the team now being guaranteed a winning record this season.)

Damn it. You're right that isn't clear. Is it possible to edit thread titles?

If ISU beats K State, and wins the bowl game this staff's four year record will be 28-23. Rhoad's record through four years was 24-27. It's amazing what a few wins (especially key conference wins) do to the perception of the program. The K State game is huge. Need to finish this season strong and go into next year with momentum. Backsliding into the middle of the standings would be tough to swallow.

Campbell will have as many wins in the past 3 years that Rhoads had in any 4+ year span

And I believe he already has more conference wins in 4 seasons than Rhoads had his entire career here. 18>16 currently

I'm not using Rhoads as any kind of standard. Just trying to show how hard it is to climb the mountain and how precious any kind of progress is for the program. Conference victories are the most meaningful to me and Campbell has been great in getting those.

A big difference is recruiting. Campbell's recruiting has been on a continual upward trend while Rhoads struggled. Most of Rhoads success came early on with the players that were in the program when he got there, and we are seeing young players Campbell brought in have success success early and often.

It wasn't even that he struggled, he took a "lassiez-faire" approach to recruiting, and then downplayed the importance of it when diminished talent was the result. To be fair, he did find a few diamonds in the rough that helped jumpstart Campbell's career at ISU, but for the most part the cupboard was left bare. Yes, a place like ISU is going to have to search harder for diamonds than blue blood programs and will have to develop the players it gets more than those programs, but ISU still has to get the best talent possible. Campbell is far succeeding where Rhoads at times felt like he didn't even try.

Didn't they also move the airport closer since CMC got here?
