OT - Cutting Cable

ok I am ready to take the cord cutting. Mediacom is just oblivious to anything. Some questions for you professionals:

1) How do I get my local channels?
2) None of my plasma's are smart tvs can I get a amazon firestick and get all the apps I need such as YouTube TV, Sling, locals?
3) Is sling the way to go?

Thanks all!
2. Don't get a fire stick. IF you're going with Amazon, get a cube or TV. Had a couple sticks and they didn't work as good as the others.

The current firestick 4K is entremely powerful, and more convenient than a cube. I will agree this is true with gen 1 and gen 2 but the 4K versions have changed the game.

My family uses YouTube TV and have not had any negative issues at all. We also use Roku devices and they seem to work great with YouTube TV. Get a Roku or Fire Stick and give the free trials a shot. YouTube TV's free trial is very easy to cancel prior to being billed (in case that is a concern for you).

Looks like PS Vue is in trouble as Sony is looking to unload it. I used it for a free trial to get NFL Network to watch a game and seemed like a decent service. I'm with YouTubeTV via Roku now and can't ever see switching, great service.

Sony's big problem is they call it Playstation Vue and people think it only works on PlayStation. They should just call it Sony Vue and advertise it that way, dropping the PlayStation name. I'm sure they would see a huge increase of users by doing that but apparently they can't figure that out.

That's literally always the first question or statement when I mention PS Vue as an option that I've tried in the past. "I don't have a PlayStation"/"Do I need a PlayStation?"

AT&T TV Now sent us an email yesterday that our bill is going up. Again. And I recently read an article that people are bailing on them at an alarming rate in 2019.

So my question is, should I stay or go? If I go, who should I give my business to?

I'm leaning Hulu or Sling but wanted your opinions.

I'm moving to YouTubeTV when PSVue goes dark.

I'll have to look into this. We got 2 Gen2 on Prime day and I'm really unimpressed with it. I thought it was mediacom Internet at first but it's Def the sticks.

Probably depends most on the channels that are dealbreakers to you. For us, YTTV is best. Sling's setup felt horrible for me when I tried it a couple years ago, and I don't like their restrictions on simultaneous streams.

I swapped my Gen 2 for a 4K fire TV stick a few months back and it was a game changer. I plan on grabbing another one on black Friday.

Just got an increase notice this morning from AT&TNOW (formerly DirecTVNow) going to $75. Time to make the change. Is YouTubeLive the way to go? I'd switch to Philo, but there's no sports channels.

Hahaha. See my post that bumped this thread. I just got the same email yesterday.
