Today's hort club episode on IPR is covering lawn care right now. They can be accessed online after they air. They mentioned this weekend in particular is the best weekend for improving your lawn. Info so far about aeration and seeding.

Neighbor across our street stripped the sod off, leveled the ground and had it hydroseeded. Within 4 days the yard was green already.

Where would I go to get the replay? Link?

I've been planning on seeding, for some reason thought it was still too early to do that. Maybe not.

So ive got a couple patches in my backyard that the grass is just randomly laying down. Any idea what could be causing that?

Some grass varieties tend to mat down when they get tall. Some of the bluegrass varieties especially look better with a lower height of cut.

Hoping someone can help me out identifying a specific kind of ornamental grass around Iowa.....It can get pretty tall, and the top has feathers that are a bright white/silver in the fall. Really cool looking, especially when the sunlight hits it at different angles. I'd like to find out what it is and do some research if it's something I could plant on my property.

Anyone have suggestions for planting something as a buffer (visually and physically) between my yard and the woods behind my house? I don't want hostas, looking for something taller and better to look at. These would be almost entirely shade, so not sure what types of ornamental grass could be planted.

I think I found it, silver feather miscanthus. Any idea if that can grow in the shade? Do I buy seed to plant ornamental grasses or buy clumps?

Which one of you psychopaths is this? In all seriousness, this guy has an immaculate lawn...but I feel like his attachment to it might be bordering into an area of concern.

I stumbled on to that video once. No idea you could use sand. But yeah, there are things I'll do for a good lawn and I'm not sure spreading 30 tons of sand is among them.

That's Connor Ward. He lives in Utah somewhere. His nemesis lives west of Des Moines with a YouTube channel under the name Ryan Knorr.

That guy killed that whole lawn off this year because he didn't like the variety of grass he had.....

You have no idea what I'm talking about. Don't take offense, but you haven't been here nearly long enough to know. It was one of the more epic posts in the history of this site.
