RECRUITING INSIDER: What I know about Iowa State’s top targets

More like some read partly sunny/cloudy posts, and then meltdown thinking they’ve read a prognostication of a Class 5 hurricane. Like religion or politics, the herd wants to be outraged and offended.

Posted this before, but it rings truer and truer to me...

In the 20th Century, Madison Avenue figured out that sex sells.

In the 21st Century, Silicon Valley figured out that anger sells.

R-e-l-a-x. Please step away from the edge.

Prohm is getting visits from all three prospects CW is detailing in the next week and the staff is on a number of other transfers that just haven't become known.
ISU basketball is and will be just fine it is April 16 and the season doesn't start til November.

You never want to be the first to panic and you REALLY never want to be the last one to panic. So I think most of the non-CSP posters would rather err to being first to panic rather than waiting too long to prove some goofy point.

I feel like that saying really only makes sense when you actually have some amount of control over something. What does panicking this early about recruiting do for us besides waste energy?

He said a variation of the same thing to two different questions but this is what I used in this story.

“Playing close to home is something special, but it’s not going to be the reason why I choose a school over another,” Grill said. “(The deciding factors will be) just how I fit in with the team, how much I’m going to get to play pretty soon and just the relationships with the coaches. That’s probably the top three.”
He clearly was lying.

I get being patient. I'm OK with letting things play out and seeing how the roster looks in late May. Like you said, there's so many moving parts that it's impossible to know who's going to end up where.

But if Prohm can't land an impact grad transfer then we'll be pinning an awful lot of hope solely on returners making huge developmental leaps and unproven freshmen being Big 12-ready. How competitive the 19-20 team can be will depend heavily on what happens in the next few weeks.

It's not like there isn't another season AFTER the 19-20 team if we don't win the national championship. If it was easy to build a final 4 basketball team you'd think more people would be doing it.

Take the long view on all these things.

That is funny, because I am pretty sure the Cave has maybe 5x the posts that the actual sports boards do on here.

Opted out 2 years ago when I realized nobody ever changed anyone's mind with the name-calling garbage. Never been happier - but I COULD be if this board returned to like-minded Cyclone FANS following and supporting OUR teams.

Sure, I get that. And if he landed a couple of really good freshmen and/or sit one transfers I'd feel pretty good about the long term future of the program (matter of fact, I feel pretty good about things long term as they stand right now but that's neither here nor there).

But the general expectation of the program is to make the tournament every year. Without landing some immediate help, that might be a tall order next season unless several players already on the roster are considerably further along in their development than what we can reasonably expect.

It's called a joke. When all the transfers and freshman are gone, you get Jeff Beverly types. It's a little complicated and you have to have been a fan for a while.
Dude, I served the High School Fred Hoiberg Subway sandwhiches while in college. Step off your "fan for a while" BS.

Yeah Iowa has had a ton visits also. They got none. So if you like visits where we get runner up. Then that's great. However, Frenchy sounds like we are not in the lead. Grill is down to UNLV (Who we lose to every time regardless of the sketchy crap they do) Kansas State and Iowa State. We know Kansas State is closer to home and he has said he wants to be closer to home.
The new top 100 kid we just started recruiting and his former assistant just happens to live in the same state as him and is an assistant at Georgia. Which in my mind puts us behind them unless he just kind of dislikes Georgia.
The Johnson kid who is a transfer has worse numbers than Beverly. So Is the sky falling? No. Are things looking good? Not in my mind.

Seems like a scary place.
