Just got an assessment for one of the building sites at the farm. Nothing new over 15 years, a 32% assessment bump. Knew the county was strapped but holy mother of Mary. That is going to hurt.

The tax assessment thread got me curious on property values here. Found a wide ranging data site and properties in my city have appreciated 69% since 2000. My old hometown in Iowa showed +49%.

Yeah, we just got bumped pretty good too. Only new things - roof on house 2 years ago, and last winter replaced culvert under driveway and hooked up to rural water (had well previously). Total cost spent = about 1/5 of increase in appraisal. Grrrrrr...

And what you did was more repairs than anything else. You would never get 100% back of what you spent if you were to sell.

Like I tell people who said that new garage door cost a grand to replace and think the house should be worth that much more. I ask what the value would be with a completely broken door. It takes more than a grand hit.

Farm land assessments are taking a hit with the formula they use so they need to find money elsewhere.

So Janny recently said that the mods can switch your username and I'm trying to decide if I should switch to WooBadger
Renouncing all ties to ISU? I do like the name though. There was a series of books I read that had an Inn named "Easing the Badger" (which was never explained)--it kind of makes me think of that.

Nah, because it's still going to be obvious that I'm a cyclone fan. But it'll sync my profiles on different websites and it'll be more of a hint that I'm also a Wisconsin fan. Because I sometimes feel like I need to explain that if Wisconsin stuff comes up

Sounds like a reasonable move. WooBadger, Esq.

I knew there were some people who were upset when Fred left. A couple days after an autographed basketball from him showed up on our garage door.

Wife tells me she wants this picture collage type set of pictures hung up. I take a note pad and start measuring, I ask if this is exactly as she wants. Yep, it’s a go.

Finish measuring the layout and drawing up the format and everything. Wife proceeds to walk over and change things around and add a few pictures. Does it a couple times. I walked away.
