Hoiberg to Huskers

Hoiberg at KU would be fun, perhaps even good for ISU. He’s not changing their recruiting profile, and hopefully he’d bring his average defense to that program (although I suspect with KU type recruits his preference for offense would be less noticeable). There would be some hype to the KU-ISU matchups.

Why did you change names SwarthmoreCy?

If he wants to make sure he retains players on the roster now, try to go after transfers on the transfer market now, hire assistant coaches now then he needs to start talking to everyone today. Yesterday actually. If you know you are doing this you don't twiddle your thumbs for a couple of weeks during such an important time period. And before you say he could be doing all that without being officially announced just stop. It would get out in a matter of minutes and the university would be forced to announce anyways.

So yeah, it's crazy to think he is delaying taking the position weeks to watch his son not play in the tournament. Could it be happening, sure. But I would question his commitment to making it work if he is letting this crucial period go by without working on putting his program in place.
It might get out that he's going to be the next coach? I think its too late for that. There's nothing stopping him from talking to current players, or recruiting. He doesn't have to follow any restrictions at all right now recruiting wise. He can do whatever he wants. I remember when Bob Huggins took a year off between the Cincinnati and Kstate jobs. He recruited the whole time. Talked to players as much as he wanted and there was nothing the NCAA could do about it since he wasn't employed anywhere. It helped him land Bill Walker and Michael Beasley.

Don't underestimate Fred's apparently overwhelming desire to remain in the Midwest.

Didn't he turn down the Golden State job?

MN, Indy, Bulls, Ames,...NU?

I’m not sure for the other people on the western side of the state, but my hatred for the huskers far exceeds my hatred for the hawks.

Growing up in western Iowa, I 100% agree with this, but my attitude has been shifting, because ISU doesn't play them any more. I always just root for a meteor strike or something when it is the hawks vs. the huskers.

The more I think about it, it's probably better for ISU if Fred sucks at NU. Not because I think he'll be beating us for recruits or anything, but the Fred knob polishers will be insufferable if he does well over there.

This post kills me...thanks! Still laughing...don't necessarily agree or disagree...just cracked me up!

If you trade Tim Miles for that Wardle guy... is that even an upgrade at all?

It’s Nebraska basketball. They don’t care until you take the cheerleaders out of the stands.

Listening to people talk about it and all of the “great fan support/great stadium” stuff drives me crazy.

To me it’s more like a minor league sports team in a city with nothing else to do in the winter, “a nice night out with the family in a nice new facility” come on out folks and bring the kids.
