I've realized, that she will assume you said it so you might as well get the satisfaction and just say it.
I know what you mean. Most of us want a break from it and people just insist on bringing it into everything.
I'm going to risk something here, but I saw this posted somewhere the other day and I could not agree more...

Baby has another cold. This one appears to be more serious than the brief runny nose last week as he protested within about 45 minutes of being laid down last night. Oy. Three wakeups by the time I went to bed at 11, DH said there was one at midnight, then up with me from 2:45-3:30. Tried to put him down three times. DH took him and I think not back asleep until 4 something. Woke up again shortly after 5 and DH took him to the couch where they slept til 7:30. Poor little guy just gets so cranky when he's got a stuffy nose. Wonder if we should try elevating one side of the crib mattress tonight and see if that helps.
Typed up a big work rant that I'm just going to skip. TL;DR I'm feeling apathetic about a project that is a mess and people in charge don't seem to realize they need to get their **** together. And I don't know how much more I care to try and get them to realize that. Then another project where after freezing me out when I should have been HEAVILY included in on, the person now wants me help after getting their ass handed to them when presenting their findings that were just, full of holes. I'm diving in now but it's annoying.

also, I mentioned Mother's Day to DH and that I had gift ideas and he's like what, Mother's Day isn't a gift giving holiday.

Sounds like DH needs to be referred to the previously stated rules. He's got some learning to do.

I appreciate the information about construction & new businesses, but yeah - most of it is a cesspool!Someone mentioned Ames People the other day so I joined to see what it was all about.
I'm even like dude, your mom is excellent at the mom guilt and likes receiving gifts/cards/etc. There is no chance in hell that you weren't expected to give her something. Also, your mom has a gemstone ring for you kids. Don't act surprised when I was like hey I think that's a nice idea. Mostly because at least on this first one, I nailed the best birthstone, IMO. If I had an August or November baby I'd be like pass.
And yes, I'll be asking for Father's Day ideas. Though 100% he's going to be like you take all the wakeups and he gets to sleep in.
A six pack of Mt Dew and some gaming time should do it for him. This did just remind me of an engineering manager I work with who recently had a wedding anniversary. Apparently the agreement for gifts was she got some ring or jewelry that was like $1k and he got an entire day to just game.

There are 2 types of Father's Day requests I have noticed in my relatively short fatherhood experience and I've done both depending on what has been going on around the time.
1. Spending quality time and doing something fun with the kids.
