The problem is not the results, it is the lack of leadership and direction. Allowing a tournament team to fall apart like this is not acceptable.

And I agree 100% with that. But Prohm isn't going to go in there and scream his face off at the team because its not who he is. Maybe its what these kids need/want but from that Athletic article is sounds like most of the kids enjoy Prohms style of coaching.

Loyal sons, forever true. Remember those words? We sing them all the time.

That is why I will be there on Saturday, for the seniors. I don't expect a turnaround, but they have surprised us before.
I will be there too / doing all I can.

I feel responsible, this is my fault.
A week ago I was talking to a Hawkeye acquaintance. I said “ well, neither team is playing well down the stretch, but at least we do not have all the intrigue to go along with It.” Oops!
I would rather have Walters and Prohm suspended (which will never happen because they are super quality people), than whatever the heck is going on with our team right now. Not going to pick on anybody, whole staff and team are not performing right now. Plenty of blame to share. Going to try to be optimistic, but it does not look like a good ending is very likely. It is a lot about expectations. We probably got them too high with our success, but we are only a shadow of the team we were a month ago. Daunting task ahead, next two games TTand then Baylor. If we win in KC then TT again followed by KSU. Not a great time to not be hitting on all cylinders.

I’ll forever be confused by this theory that Lindell isn’t trying. 3 straight games out rebounding our 5 man.. He only has 4 turnovers total in the last 3 games. He attacked the hoop hard last night. If I had one complaint on Wigginton it would be his 3 point defense but guess what? That’s a major weakness for everyone on the team. I think NWB guy dropped 28 on him last night.

To be fair to Nick...

-- he is hurt and clearly breaking down physically

-- he was switched onto Haliburton for at least one of them, and Lewis for two

-- I have no idea how that kid ended up in Morgantown and not Iowa City... everything about him just screams somebody the Hawkeyes would have loved

The general point that we are awful at defending the three lately is true, though.

It is just a team failing, not specific to any one player.

I think Lindell's problem is it appears he is pressing when in fact he is just the only guy that can make anything happen off the dribble. I think he knows if he isn't pushing the issue no one is getting the ball into the paint.

While I agree that we don't look like a 7 seed, the fact is we still have a better resume than a **** ton of teams that are in the current 7-10 seed range. In fact, in both Lunardi's and Palm's updated brackets today, after the WVU loss, they didn't even drop us. Still the same seeds, 5 and 7, respectively.

We have two games left for sure, both against top 35 NET teams. We aren't going to drop if we lose both. At all.

I stand by my statement. No sense arguing. Time will tell.

I was at that catastrophe tonight. One thing I will say is that, in my opinion, West Virginia has got the nicest fans of any opponents I’ve seen. On the way in to the game a guy stopped me and was talking about how great our fan base is and he was in KC the year we played WVU in the Big 12 championship and he was just amazed at how we took the place over. Called over like 6 of his friends and they all said the same stuff. Didn’t have anyone try to talk **** or bad mouth or anything. Just a good group of people.
The same fan base that has a student section name a "Bum of the Game" where they endlessly boo that player ever time he touches the ball?

Here is an example from last year:

If you think we are in the same universe as back then, that’s your first issue. There was also a whole lot that went into that which hasn’t ever seen the light of day because it was dealt with by firing him. If you rest comfortably at night knowing Prohm is doing things the right way and you won’t wake up to sanctions scandals, you would have cried yourself to sleep back in the day.
No, I don’t think we’re in the same situation, but neither is posting a nay word the same as starting a fireWayneMorgan.com site. Your previous post is hollow given your past actions.

TBF NWB probably wouldn’t have been playing last night if Shayok was healthy. He couldn’t even jump.

What exactly is he making happen?

Are you including seniors? If not, who are the the other three?

I am including Seniors. Talley, Shayok, Babb, Wigginton and Lard for sure. I think there is a better than 50% that we lose two others. But those decisions are still being mulled. In essence in his 4th year we are going to see a likely 50% turnover in his roster. We have significant problems on the horizon unless he can right the ship by cutting the bad apples loose and recruiting a competent grad transfer.

I disagree that we've been here before. I've never seen anything like this. Fans don't know how to respond to it and neither do I.

This is just the extended version of Hampton and UAB. That and actual information about locker room **** got out. Eustachy and Fred lost their team, just like Prohm. Eustachy and Fred's might be worse because of the leadership they had on the team, but still couldn't hold it together. Although hindsight, Larry obviously had his problems, and Fred had one foot out the door.

For me, in terms of a fan meltdown, it doesn't get much worse than a 3 seed, who just won the conference tournament, losing in the first round, then the fan loved coach leaving few weeks later.

We'll see how this season ends, and what comes of it in the immediate off-season, then we rank the meltdown.

Had this same thought....an extended version of Hampton/UAB. I think the mid season success really amped up expectations. Then when this team didn't handle the adversity very well things just spiraled....for the team and fans. We were thought of as a bubble team to start the year and have overachieved...but the way we're closing is painful to watch.

My hope is we see pride, effort, and toughness Saturday...start building some togetherness for the tourney and next year.

Everybody wants to win that is the bottom line. I disagree with your statement that Prohm has brought in more talent than prior regimes. Perhaps more highly rated high school talent but that has yet to show the same dividends on the floor. I know Prohm is doing things the right way as far as sanctions and scandal but his job is more than that. It is to maintain (at a minimum) what was built. Losing Neil was alarming as he was one of the better minds on that staff. When he left and where he went to (coach on the hot seat) seem to send up a red flag.

Perhaps this gets turned around in the next two weeks or maybe the slide continues. We are going to have a 50% roster turnover this summer which will lead to the exact same class imbalance that people blasted CFH for. We were a better program in 2015 then to just be satisfied with doing things the right way four years later. Everyone’s fear is to go back to 2006-2010 and I’m sorry but I just don’t have the same confidence in CSP as I did with CFH.

Depending on how the rest of season plays out, SP's coaching seat should be warming up. If we are going to be a .500 team with a roster that was widely considered to be the most talented in the Big 12 and with a down KU than what can we expect in future years?
