Ok, who wants to claim this? I think this was one of most accurate forecasts for a storm. They even specifically called out the thin line total variations. The "overblown" comment made me laugh last night as they were closing down I35 from Ames to MN.

We got a half-inch in Toledo last night. Waaaaay off from the 4-6" predictions.

Slight drizzle where I live. Second overblown storm this week.

We just drove from Des Moines to Ames the back way through Slater. That was a big mistake. That road is a death trap right now.

Currently driving back to DsM on I35 which isn’t too bad. Pockets of ice but mostly one fairly dry lane so far and average speed of about 50 mph.

Iowa DOT notes from about an hour ago:

Expect I-35 to remain closed from Ames to MN state line until sometime tomorrow morning.
Expect travel north and west of Des Moines to be impacted through tomorrow morning.

That’s what we had last year in MSP and it sucked. We got 14” of snow on April 26. By the time all the snow was gone, it was May and we were right into summer. Then we went from hot all “fall” right into frigid temps. We got no spring or fall last year, which is the ideal time to live in minnesota.

April 15th. I worked in taxes and remember getting 20+ inches in some places overnight that day, and then by the end of the season as I was going around to all of my offices cleaning up paperwork around the 22nd or so I wasn’t even wearing a coat.

We had a guys’ weekend planned up in MSP the last weekend in April. I remember being discouraged when the weather wasn’t improving that month (a Twins game was part of our plans). Then it finally turned and we got 60+ weather that weekend, so it was all good.

Hwy 13 between Cedar Rapids and Strawberry Point was completely closed from this morning around 11:00am had multiple vehicles in the ditch and a semi jack knifed across the hwy between Manchester and SP alone. heard hwy 3 west of town was a **** show too. hwy 13 north between SP and elkader also had a semi partially blocking the road on a blind hill corner.

Ah yeah, I was off in my dates. I remember people worrying about being able to get their taxes to the post office, so you’re right. The thing that stuck out to me was a friend saying, on Memorial Day, “6 weeks ago we got over a foot of snow.”

I have to take that road to work tomorrow. There are some bad spots where the ditches are shallow and it fills in with drifts quickly. Hopefully it’s at least open albeit snow covered tomorrow morning.
