Whether the OU kid was concussed, hurt, or just gassed, Coleman's comeback was worth the drive by itself. That was fun to watch.

I'm impressed with Schumacher. You would think a guy that was wrestling 182 this time last year could have some 3rd period conditioning issues but I see none of it. He's got a helluva motor.

ISU wrestling is fun to watch again. I can't thank this coaching staff enough.

Schumacher was making things happen. Great energy. Up and down the line-up, the team is showing aggression, and wrestling hard.

125 - got a solid win, but after starting 6-0 early I am a bit disappointed he didn’t get the major.

133 - man I love Gomez, but I’m starting to think it’s highly unlikely he AAs. Not going to be able to start that slow and win multiple matches at NCAA. Hope I’m wrong.

141 - this went about exactly how I thought it would. Great win by Parker. Glad we have him and not Storr, rankings be damned.

149 - Degen being Degen. Doesn’t worry me.

157 - no comment

165 - I like Schumacher. He clearly has some talent.

174 - hard to know what to think about Coleman after that one. Very exciting match and got the crowd going.

184 - might be the guy I’m most impressed with this year. He is wrestling very confidently right now.

197 - Woodley is tough. This was probably Miklus best win of the year. I thought he looked really good up until the last minute of the match where he started to coast a bit.

285 - good solid win for Gremmel.

Storr was dismantled (teched) by Ohio State's McKenna last night.

Did what? Definitely did not go into the concussion protocol.

After the first long time with the coaches and trainer, the trainer looked really hesitant as he walked away. He stopped, looked back at him, waited, and then joined the coaches. Maybe that guy was just gassed (as usual), but his glassy-eyed stares made me concerned that there was a bigger problem.

So happy to say that you were wrong about Ian! 4-3 4th period on a stall call.
Not the first time I've been wrong about this team and I hope they keep making me look stupid when I pick against them!

Last night was awesome. The crowd after the Ian and Marcus wins might have been the loudest I've heard Hilton since I started going to duals regularly 7 years ago. Ian basically bullying a guy like Demas was very impressive. Whether it was a concussion, neck, or Mantanona gassing out, Coleman coming back from being down 12-0 was crazy. If it wasn't obvious before last night that we've turned the corner in a big way as a program, that type of performance should leave no doubt. I love watching these guys wrestle.

Like I posted earlier trainers make initial decison , they spent plenty of time with him , if they are uncertain they send him to the back, they either were certain or it was a different complaint.

I hope you are right. It seems that we have come a long way in terms of sending concussed athletes back into competition. I didn't know about his history of scoring big early and then tanking. Hope that was all it was.

125- good win by Mackall, but I agree I would’ve liked to have seen a major

133- you could tell these two have wrestled before. 133 is such a crap shoot that Gomez could be in the finals or not in the round of 12, but I’m happy he’s our guy. He did seem a little gimpy at the end of that match. Wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t wrestle tomorrow.

141- I love watching Parker wrestle. He doesn’t tire and he just wore Demas down. Great win

149- tough loss for Degen, but he’ll be fine. I hope these two see each other at big 12s

157- not sure what happened to Straw from last year but he just doesn’t appear to be the same. Gonna have to steal a spot if we want to see him in Pitt. Carr will be very good here next year

165- Schumacher is fun to watch. He may not be a blue chip recruit, but he has a motor and lays it all out on the mat. He won’t win every match, but he will give 100% effort every match

174- I am in the crowd of believing it was a “neck” injury/gassing timeouts. He was holding his shoulder area the first one and just kept looking tired. Great win by Coleman and gutsy comeback, but he can’t get down big like that. Very talented wrestler and he will keep improving

184- biggest surprise of the year for me. Man it’s fun watching Colbray and he finally has a gas tank. GREAT job by this coaching staff to turn the corner with Sammy and I don’t think he’s even near his full potential yet. He’s got a bright future

197- tough wrestler, but I wish miklus would open it up more. Tough to know what’s going through his head with his dads health and all that though. He always seems to wrestle his best in March, so I’m not worried

Hwt- good win, could’ve opened it up a little more but pretty dominating.

Overall a solid win. Not our best performance, but still won 8 out of 10 matches. Sunday will be a tough one, but I am all in on this staff. They’re really building something here

I am no expert on these things, but that's exactly what I saw--a glassy-eyed look. One advantage to watching the meet on Cyclone TV is that you have a mat-side camera view and you can see things up close. After one of the stoppages, when they were getting ready to start in the neutral position, there was a straight-on view of Mantanona's face, and he looked dazed.

Me too , because if the trainers thought otherwise and let him go it’s not good. Certainly didn’t look good . Will be interesting to see if he wrestles against UNI .

I am admittedly a wrestling noob as well, but I attended at Hilton last night. Had a great time. Is it just me or did we, in some matches, really struggle to finish single-legs? Maybe I’m imagining things, but I felt a lot of times they turned into quick scrambles and OU ended up with a takedown.

This Oklahoma team has some young talent. I want to see Parker get it done tonight. I think they win 8 of 10 with 41, 49, 57, 65, 74, and 97 being some close matches.
Guess I was wrong about Schumacher :D
Good work Parker, he was the aggressor. Degen just doesn't match-up well against Jeffries. That was guts Coleman showed out there. At the beginning of the year, the Mackall match would've been a toss-up. He has come a long ways and went after it. Gremmel and Colbray both put it on their guys and deserve props. Miklus just needs to keep winning. Straw can't win matches because he can't do anything on top. He can't ever get quick points (feet to back or turn from top). Every match turns into a take down game and when he gives up back points, he's all but done.

Went back and watched some of the highlights and have some thoughts/questions for those who know the team better.

- Are people starting to figure out how to wrestle guys like Austin and Jarrett? Clearly you need to wrestle Gomez differently and be aware what he can do on his feet. And Degan, that dude gets himself into the WEIRDest looking scrambles and positions. It's like wrestling a preying mantis or something. Does a year of tape on him give a big advantage?

- Willie seems like a guy that in a way would drive a coach bonkers. He's clearly better but is in way to many close matches with kids he should destroy.

- What is the ceiling for gremmel this year? He seems to have the talent but something about him seems raw still.
Jarrett has a unique style and Davion happens to match-up well against him. He was 1-1 going into last night with Jarrett. Don't look into that match too much. Jarrett will drop matches because of his style and certain guys can stop some of his funk.
Gomez has continued to struggle with his defense on his feet. He has big move potential and anyone who knows Gomez knows this. He is still young and his defense will get better. Guys aren't figuring him out, he just needs to keep getting better and improving his defense.
Gremmel could win a couple matches at Nationals. He does well against below average wrestlers, but can't beat the top 12 type guys.

Seriously....what took the ref so long to call stalling? That Oklahoma team reminds me so much of the KJ years. So glad Dresser has this team more aggressive.

This couldn't be more true... Seriously. This could even go back to Douglas. Counter wrestling. Win, sometimes.... but we all saw the results
