Coleman dropped him on his head I think late in the first period. And the guy never looked the same after that. I kept waiting for the refs to stop the match but they didn't.
I thought the coaches should have stepped in. I don’t understand why they didn’t go to concussion protocol??

I thought it was a neck thing and not a concussion but maybe not. If it was a concussion then yes, the coaches should have stepped in. I'm not too familiar with the wrestling rules, but does the referee have some responsibility in concussion cases too?

I am a born again cyclone wrestling fan. I was a student when Cael came but when he left I lost interest because we sucked so bad. Tonight was the first dual I'd been to in many years in hilton. Color me impressed. We are clearly well trained, conditioned and prepared. I am definitely a Dresser fan. Go state

Wrestling noob here. Never been to a meet before but have checked out a few matches on CYTV. My question of the night is what all constitutes stalling? Is there set criteria or just a refs judgement? Do you always lose a point or is there a warning for it?

Thinking about trying to make it for my first Dual in the near future.

The trainers evaluate the wrestler on the mat if they are uncertain the wrestler is allowed to leave the mat and go to the back for further evaluation by medical staff. There is unlimited time for concussion evaluation. The decision is made by trainers/ medical staff. I agree this may have been more of a neck issue .

I rewatched it. Mantanona did hit his head on the mat, but he is well known for gassing hard and taking "lung" time outs. This year he has had matches of Won 18-14, Loss 11-10, Loss 13-11, Won 14-13, Loss 14-13. They have the same pattern, he scores a lot of points and then crashes, stalls, and calls injury timeouts. Give credit to Mantanona in the first and I hope he is okay, but Coleman deserves credit for the comeback too.

Went back and watched some of the highlights and have some thoughts/questions for those who know the team better.

- Are people starting to figure out how to wrestle guys like Austin and Jarrett? Clearly you need to wrestle Gomez differently and be aware what he can do on his feet. And Degan, that dude gets himself into the WEIRDest looking scrambles and positions. It's like wrestling a preying mantis or something. Does a year of tape on him give a big advantage?

- Willie seems like a guy that in a way would drive a coach bonkers. He's clearly better but is in way to many close matches with kids he should destroy.

- What is the ceiling for gremmel this year? He seems to have the talent but something about him seems raw still.

1. A little of both (criteria and judgement). There are specific things that are automatically stalling, like fleeing the mat. Then there are other things that are up to the ref -- activity, constantly backing up, etc.

2. First stall is a warning. Then it's 1 point, 1 point, 1 point, DQ.

Mantanona did hit his head on the mat, but he seemed fine for the next 20-seconds of wrestling, going upper body and going for a throw on the edge. Then just faded. Could have been effects of that or that seems like the time most dudes will start to gas.

Gomez and Madrigal wrestled each other in the IL state finals. Similar match - Madrigal early 4-0 lead, Gomez came back and controlled the rest of the match. Gomez was gimpy at the end of the match, hopefully nothing big with Fix tomorrow.

Huge win for Parker. Demas is tough and has some good results. Parker vs Brock is big tomorrow. Needs to stay out of the double-overs.

Overall, the team is looking the best they have since 2010. Still young but dudes have fight, gas tanks, and an attack-mentality. Fun to watch again.
