You also have Jacksonville, which could pull Duke, North Carolina, or Tennessee. If Iowa State is a 4 seed they are dang near a lock for Des Moines.
You get a pod with the 4 as the highest seed though. Why not Iowa State? They could put KU in Tulsa, and MSU and Mich could get Columbus or one of them could get the other pod in Des Moines as a 1, 2 or 3 seed. ISU will freaking pack the house and the NCAA knows it. Plus, as the high seed in that pod it's totally fair to have the home court advantage.
That won't really matter though, the tickets are already sold. Des Moines is the only 1st/2nd round site that is sold out.

Yes, and those tickets will be gobbled up by ISU fans. There won't be an empty seat in Wells Fargo. What ISU basketball fan wouldn't try to get into those games? (except for maybe the basketball arena snobs on this board) The NCAA knows this.
It depends on what the seeds are. They ar not going to move 1 and 2 seeds around to get a 4 seed ISU to Ames. If Duke, Tennessee, UNC, virginia are 1 or 2 seeds and michigan and michigan state are 2 or 3 seeds, then they would get Des Moines. If they are high enough to get Columbus, that helps because the east coast teams would take Jacksonville or Hartford as a backup spot.
It is but they arent sending an east coast 2 or 3 seed to San Jose while giving Iowa State des moines as a 4 seed.
Weird, Wells Fargo arena is thought of as a terrible basketball venue and a stale environment by alot of posters on here. Yet, they are the only site sold out so far.
With most of them being to 3rd party sites or resellers, guaranteed. Plenty of opportunity for Cyclone fans to pick them up.
It tells me a college market town like Des Moines is excited to host the tournament again and the community has really embraced it. This doesn't make The Well a better venue, the seats are still ****. Honestly, if Iowa State isn't selected to play in DSM, the scalpers won't be able to give tickets away for the first round sessions.

I agree with your first point - but not your second... first go around with KU Kentucky and Indiana - tickets were 4-5x face value with no Iowa or ISU. Largely depends who else is there - but DSM doesn't need ISU to be there... athough it certainly helps.
