I hunted Saturday and Sunday as well. Shot a doe on Saturday and a buck on Sunday. Our group shot 8 in one drive on Saturday so we decided to call it quits; then we only shot 2 in 3 drives on Sunday for a total of 10 for the weekend. I bet I saw 30 deer in the one drive we did Saturday and about the same across the 3 drives we did Sunday. I was happy to volunteer to walk every drive; no matter how many layers I put on I always freeze when I sit.

Surprisingly slick out there today after some freezing rain. Schools delayed late and now cancelled. Tried to listen to WMT on the way for road reports. That lasted all of 10 seconds (not even exaggerating) before they were making fun of Ames and ISU so I quickly changed the channel remember why I don't listen to them.

Yesterday was a lot like the Drake game for us. Mom continues to frustrate me in regards to Christmas so that put me on edge. LittleWx wouldn't cooperate last night. Then LilMissWx got a stomach bug so neither kid would let me do anything. Not my brightest night of parenting but man that was frustrating.

My co-workers that are hok fans are all pillorying their team this morning.....play like $hit, no defense, worthless, etc. Kind of like a typical CF meltdown after a Cyclone loss. They are thinking we are gonna kill them Thursday night.

Hope they're right!!!! :p

In a contest of who is stupider as a base, our basketball or football fans, I am going to have to give the nod to the basketball fans.

It was the Wigginton thread that made the final decision, amiright?

Truth but it started last season when I bought a single resale ticket and ended up sitting with a bunch of high level donors at mid-court. It was the Texas game that we lost in OT 74-70. Disappointing loss but a very entertaining game. It took some bearded big from Texas having a career game hitting 7 threes to beat us, not a guy who you would have planned shooting them let alone making them. Anyway, had to listen to the people around me ***** from the tip off to the final horn in OT. Constant, non stop and mostly idiotic.

Tell him you are driving. If you leave at 6 am you will hit SA around 9:30 pm.

Fixed. Can drive just fine with a cup of coffee before dawn in the morning. Don't want to have to be all caffeined up when I get there and get no sleep.

We are probably going to stop just short of SA on our travel day so we just have a couple of hours to make up the morning of the 27th*. No reason to kill ourselves.

One year four of us drove straight through Des Moines to Key West. That was a long drive. The only good thing about that was it was in a class B RV so we could try to get a cat nap in an actual bed while someone else was driving.

*Has anyone heard anything about a Cyclone pep rally yet? We have been assuming that it will be on the 27th.

DO NOT LET YOUR WIFE PICK YOUR OVERNIGHT STOPPING POINT! I accidentally stopped in Waco and ended up wandering around and old feed store for a bit.

19th Century U.S. History job appears!
They want someone for an assistant prof, tenure-track position who has a book published.
What? That's what you do as a tenure-track assistant prof. Hoping this isn't an indication that the job market is getting even worse, but it's probably getting even worse.

Self-publish via Kindle on Amazon and we can all go in and give you five star ratings.

Need stocking stuffer treats advice. Allergy related.

Bought some Lindt chocolate treats for the grandnephews and grandnieces. Just a silly thing I do on holidays. One year the little boys and I "carved" some chocolate Lindt turkeys. So bought some to take to Indy with me and remembered one grandniece had/has allergies. So ask niece and her little gal is okay with dairy stuff now so chocolate is okay but peanuts are verboten.

So I check and no peanuts in the "ingredients" however it has this catchall "May contain peanuts hazelnuts or almonds." Well, ****. Go to store and every single chocolate product has a similar warning. From "may contain" to "processed on same equipment for nut products". The kicker was a fancy peppermint stick that had "Produced in same manufacturing facility as products containing peanuts". Any ideas for a substitute I can have for allergy girl? Would need to be something in league with the below stuff.

Those are the Bowl's generic events. Generally ISU puts on their own pep rally. Last year in Memphis it was in the minor league baseball stadium the day before the game.

Maybe....

I believe Hersheys has a line of candies that are made in a nut-free assembly line to avoid cross contamination. Worst case, you buy this, eat the candy yourself and fill it with nut-free candies and it still looks festive.

Or you could throw together a fancy hot chocolate gift pack together if she's into that sorta thing.

Also, not a stocking stuffer, but if you are doing a breakfast, these cinnamon rolls by Rhodes are nut-free.

We have a girl on my daughter's soccer team that is highly allergic and we had to do some research when she stayed over. She maybe weighs 70 lbs and tore through 3 of them.

Those are the only things listed on ISU's website for now.
