Weather Saturday

First off beware of slick roads both going to and from the game.

Assuming there is going to be next to no tailgating I won't bother with that time frame. I would count on there being light rain at least off and on the whole game and wouldn't count out a wintry mix as well. Temps are going to be just a few degrees above freezing all day with winds sustained 15-20 gusting 25+.

If this were to move north or south a little there might be more of a mix/snow or all rain but regardless it is going to be cold, wet and windy. Basically a miserable day to be outside so kudos to those of you making the trek but I am going to count going to the KU game as my 7th home game of the season.

Up here along the IA/MN border they keep changing some snow to rain. We were at just short of a foot, now a couple inches of snow and the rest rain. Hope it pushes further north, sunday stands a chance to melt much of the ice we could be left with.

To see Iowa State play for a national champ I would walk barefoot across fire and a bed of nails.

I'll be there!

Hell most weeks we usually have shooters or flasks being passed around in our section and the colder it gets the more beer that gets smuggled in too. Granted we are in the upper deck looking across the end zone so the ushers may not care as much but as long as you aren't obvious or stupid about it no one has ever been bothered for drinking around us.

Sounds like you guys get... Cydtracked... during the game.

I'll see myself out.

Campbell always tweets after games. Usually those tweets talk about the great fan support. Last week that tweet did not. (It talked about the seniors.)

He was asked about the fans either in his post game press conference or on Tuesday and side stepped it.

We have a ranked team and a coach that will have plenty of better options for next year.

I would hope enough of us would care enough to show up tomorrow. It’s s small part that those of us who aren’t big money donors can do to ensure things stay on the right track.

I think he had a right to be a bit disappointed in the KSU attendance.
I also don't think his head is buried in the sand and thus will completely get why the Drake game (given the weather especially), will be light.

Just being honest but color me shocked if there are more than 30k there at kickoff. 2nd half ....well....eek.
I might even take the under on 30k...going to be tough conditions. Looks like the winds will be basically due East during the game...maybe East Northeast...West stands are going to take the brunt of the foul weather. Folks in the East stands will at least have the winds behind them...will make the overhang seats very popular.

I agree. I was thinking maybe 20k max.

I think you’re right. But one wonders how many fans Ohio State would have in an equivalent situation, for them.

I'm sure Ohio State fans would be thrilled about attending a meaningless game, in potential blizzard conditions, against a non-scholarship school instead of playing in the conference championship game was being played that day.

I'm not bitter about not playing in the Big12 championship game, but expecting a turnout in this situation seems ridiculous.

Edit: With that said, I will be there.

I think 25k is about all we can expect.

The guys on KXNO yesterday afternoon were talking like 40k. That is when you are too close to your job and forgetting the realities of the every day fan and what you can realistically expect from them. .

Given how many free tickets are being given away (and, in some cases, trying to give them away without much success), I would speculate under 25K butts-in-seats. Maybe 40K "tickets sold."

Saw someone on Facebook yesterday trying to sell 2 tickets (regular bleacher tickets) and a parking pass for $50! Good luck! (I got 6 free tickets and a parking pass.)

Got our trailer in place in the RV lot! Tomorrow will have tent with heater. Love the process!

Too bad we didn't have one of those unseasonably warm days tomorrow. I think one last chance to tailgate in decent weather would have drawn a nice crowd of perhaps 45K? (Maybe I'm being optimistic.)

But with storm watches in bordering counties and not just cold but wet and windy conditions, I would guess most who have any distance to travel will stay home.

Ohio State would not have scheduled a 12th game in this situation.

Tickets sold will be nearly 60,000, because these are the tickets from the SDSU game.

Here I am, following a weather thread, with no updated snow projections? CF usually is awesome with weather threads, which is why I'm watching this one. Have a wedding tomorrow that my wife is in, so we can't really miss it.
