A large part of college football is about status.I suppose, though in reality, these rankings only matter for less than 10 teams. For everyone else, it's a status symbol. The end rank may put pressure on bowls to select a ranked or higher ranked team over another choice though.
Agreed. That bubble should explode as Nate Stanley hits critical mass. You could argue Iowa is ranked 9 spots too high.
Eventually he'll weigh them down..Agreed. That bubble should explode as Nate Stanley hits critical mass.
Man. You are good at this. You always have one more. You're like fighting the Russians during WWII.Eventually he'll weigh them down..
the good thing is so many games left that are going to totally screw up the SEC and B1G.
I think LSU got set so high to hype their game with Alabama even more.
Penn St/ Michigan, OSU Michigan, OSU @ MSU, B1G Championship. Honestly, I see OSU emerging.
Bama/LSU this week, Georgia/KY this week, SEC championship game. Then, SEC championship game.
Honestly, I think OU is sitting kind of pretty right now if they can stay a one loss team. I for one am rooting for OU to win out, unless we play them.

Seriously. Records need context behind them. The “eye test” doesn’t just mean looking at what someone’s record is. Just looking at someone’s record is lazy analysis. I’m not saying that it isn’t the common way people do it but people need to stop acting like we don’t deserve to be ranked.Looking over these rankings, it is shocking how close they are to computerized rankings using per play or per drive efficiencies, instead of the "eye test."
No other way to explain a ranked Iowa State given our record.

I want ND to get in specifically for that reason -- it'll fire up the expansion talks if more conferences get left out.Agree Ohio State will overcome loss at Purdue to get in. Beat Michigan and they'll be the highest one loss team regardless of what the one loss is.
Hate to say it but a four team playoff probably should have a Big Ten East team unless the botch the CCG. I'd much rather see that than Notre Dame in there making the entire playoff just 2 or 3 conferences.
And it wouldn't hurt to see ND get cracked by Alabama.I want ND to get in specifically for that reason -- it'll fire up the expansion talks if more conferences get left out.
Actually, I'm more worried that we could lose this game. I have a lot more trust in CMC than in coaches past, but this just feels like a setup for disappointment to me.They’re going to sink our SOS.
Isn't that who stomped them a few years ago too? That game was a snooze fest. And it wouldn't hurt to see ND get cracked by Alabama.
I'm just so damn sick of the double standard. Any loss by a Big 12 team is a bad loss that will be held against them for as long as possible, while the SEC and BiG's sins are forgiven almost before they're committed. tOSU got absolutely piss pounded by what appears to be a pretty average Purdue team and it's just chalked up to Urb having a bad day.
You might say that his comments bear great weight on the matter! Nate Stanley was confused the other day when people were pointing at him. He thought the pointers were saying " O bees!", but there were no bees in the area.Man. You are good at this. You always have one more. You're like fighting the Russians during WWII.
