WBB Recruiting

For 2019, Masikewich verballed UCLA recently and Warnock just verballed Iowa (we were not finalists).

That leaves Greene as the only potential 2019 recruit I know about. I don't have inside info, so there certainly could be others. But the early signing season fast approaches, so we're at the time most recruits are making their selections if they haven't already.
That seems troubling. Goiing to be stuck with mid-major prospects?

I won't panic too much, we have McGraw who committed a long time ago and is either a five-star or four-star depending on who's tossing out the stars. It's not like we are going to have a whole class of five-stars and four-stars.

We're also ahead of schedule on 2020, which is shaping up to be a really solid class for us.

I believe we have a post player from Texas in the 2019 class that I do not recall her name.

McBride. No much recruiting hype about her. Not really on anyone's recruit ranking lists. Could be the next Pop or the next of a line of Texas posts that mostly sat on the bench.

Callin Hake 5'7" a 2022 Guard out of Minnesota https://twitter.com/callinh14?lang=en visited over the weekend.

Cool update. Your Twitter linky has a few nice pics of visit and camp this summer. 8th grader last season so I hadn't even heard of her up here but Prospects Nation has at least a placeholder under her name.

Pic below with our 2019 gals McGraw and McBride. If you didn't know who was who in the pic you might think she was the class of 2019 and Maggie was the 2022. Will be interesting to see how things go with WBB recruiting in Minnesota with Whalen onboard at Williams Arena.

The nice thing about Minnesota is that there is a LOT of talent up there. Whalen can't snatch them ALL up for herself. I'm thinking we'll still be able to get some good ones down the road.

That's the common perception but I think it is more hype than fact and based a lot on the state being a hotbed of fans. Local fans alternately gripe about the Gophers missing on local talent or complain they have too much medicore local talent. I haven't seen many of the "one that got away" ending up being huge P5 level stars. We did strike gold with Seanna Johnson, that's one they likely regret missing on.

Paige Bueckers is obviously an exception being ranked #1 but she's going elite blue blood unless Wahlen pulls a recruiting coup.

Minnesota seems to produce 3 -5 top 100 type players every year, and Minnesota has frequently not gotten any of them. Could almost be like TX, no need to leave the state to recruit. Though it seems the classes of late haven't been like those of past, like 2014 maybe? where I think there were almost 30 D1 level wbb commits out of MN. I remember that because it was Fernstroms class.

Wow, not ready for this - Division I Basketball (Early Period) November 14, 2018. Starting three seniors, for now, might encourage someone on the fence?
