WBB recruiting is a different beast than many sports. Colleges can recruit them early than I knew. I know sophomore year "blow up" on the recruiting trail their senior year. If they don't have D1 offers early in their Junior year, they probably are not getting them unless they are lower level D1

I think Johnson and Scott committed as sophomores, before I had even heard of them here in Minnesota. Granted I don't follow the recruiting in depth but usually have at least heard of some of the kids via local news and tourney play coverage.

Not exactly sure.

I see I somehow deleted a line in there about sophomore year is the big year and some even can get chatted to after their freshman year. Definitely a messed up statement by me.

I was agreeing with you, essentially. We have had some pretty early commits. Add McGraw in next years class to that.

Thanks, don't know how I missed that but great to hear.

Optimistic she is a Div I player like her older sisters. It is interesting she is not rated/ranked by any of usual go to sources for Class of 2020. Of course, being in Iowa and recruiting after Ashley they have seen her play maybe more than anyone.

Our other 2020, Lexi Donarski is ranked as a 4-star and #58 nationally by Prospects Nation. ESPN has her at #19.

Donarski is going to be a stud. She's a 5-10 PG. She's a great athlete and runs track, where she has a personal best of 12.72 in the 100 meters, and is also a great volleyball player, posting 21 kills in a game recently.

Here's an evaluation of her from the ESPN recruiting site:

"Agile lead-guard brings size and scoring punch to the back court; manufactures, rises and delivers in mid-range game; handles and attacks in transition game, weaves through traffic and distributes; unselfish playmaker; competes on both ends of the floor."

It's mind-boggling that she committed as an 8th grader. She must have been what, 5-4 back then?

We have 3 2020s: don't forget Kylie Feuerbach. She's generally rated between Donarski and Joens.

One thing we all can agree on is that Bill has really hit the afterburners on recruiting these past 2-3 years...the quality of the ladies coming in are as good as it has ever been.

Truth. Good enough to redshirt two decently regarded/rated players this year. Brief glimpses of Kane at post earlier impressed me. Throw in a couple of transfers and it's quite the recruiting recovery from that weak 2016 class.

All recruit rankings are just projections until they play and actually win and the winning now is maybe proving some of the class rankings.

Huh. It usually shows up fine for me (or I just have to answer a survey question). Maybe try opening it in an incognito window?

For anyone else I reset my ad blocker and it finally worked to get access to CR Gaz article.

Donarski in a recent game had five steals with most relayed into scores. Long and quick this player has a lot of tools. I think she is averaging 15 points per game.

Love this note on Lexi:

Iowa State commit and 5-star recruit, Lexi Donarski (Aquinas) is the top recruit in Wisconsin's class of 2020. She is lethal at all scoring at all three levels and her step-back jumper almost automatic. One of the most most skilled and confident guards in the state, Donarski will be in the running for the Jr All-Star Wisconsin Player of the Year Award...from --> https://www.jrallstar.com/news_article/show/857655

Agree. It doesn't take too many misses to start pulling a team down...conversely...have the majority hit and you zoom up the standings.

There is going to be a sharp cutoff this year in the Big 12...ISU, Baylor, and Texas look to be for sure Top 3, while the rest will be fighting it out for position.

Agree with the Top 3 there so far. ISU looked maybe good on paper pre-season but think we justifiably got voted down some or put into "prove it" because it's been a few years since we've done much more than just qualify for NCAA and than make a quick exit. Still need to prove we can win away from Hilton but think we will. Got three seniors starting so road games shouldn't be some sort of intimidating xfactor.
