OK, so I knew that UNI wasn't hiring me for that archival position. The ad went down weeks ago and we hadn't spoken.
Their flush letter today was a little direct. I get the feeling that they feel I wasted the moments of their time that they spent reading my stuff.

So, thanks but no thanks. One of these 2019 apps is gonna have to pay off.

So many flush letters are a total form letter or one that is somewhat customizable with some personal information in a couple of key places but really still a form letter. I wouldn't read too much into it. In fact listen to the response to Andy and then do like he does:

So, you're a sock attention *****?

So the back story is, the first company I worked at as an adult out of college, one that I worked at for 8 years, had a strict dress code. Black shoes, black pants, white or light blue Oxford and a tie. And I felt like that put me in a box. So I noticed there was nothing specific about socks, ties or belt buckles. So that’s where I got unique.

Well, this wasn't a direct fit. They noticed that, too.
But I won't respond to it. It was just an attempt to do something productive and get paid. That's apparently a very difficult thing to do.

My first job I was told if I wore a tie again, wore one to an interview, I would be fired.

Huh. I worked a temp job once at a DSM company. They told my temp agency that it was business casual, so I wore what I always wore for stuff like that.
After the first day, I got a call that this was a serious, very significant problem. Agency found something else and we had months of good work before an Army school took over.

Business causal doesn’t mean just going in your underwear, Erik.

I can't believe how difficult it is to convince this lady friend to go to Hawaii with me. It's not like we've known each other 6 years, she's visited me in Dallas a few times, I've visited her in Minneapolis a few times, and we even went to the Cayman's together, but nope.

Since I would be using points, she would feel too "guilty" because I should spend them on myself.

I DIDN'T PAY FOR MY POINTS! Thank my customers and my company! Not me! I even showed her all my points balances and we could take several trips to Hawaii on my points and still not run out. This is a drop in the bucket.

Hell for whatever reason it's less points to take her to Hawaii than it is for me to go to Minneapolis.

Boxster has nothing else to do nowadays, maybe you can convince him to tag along. Unless you are looking to get some payment in kind. Then I'd let boxster speak how bad he wants to go.
