So our daycare said they were having an open house tonight from 5-7. Sent me two emails and I rspvd yes. So after getting done with my meeting for the day, we said goodbye to grandma and I put on real clothes and got babe all in his car seat. Then he pooped. Got him ready again and out we went.

I arrived at 6:09pm and they normally close at 6pm. There is one car in the parking lot and it's leaving. Literally no one else there or inside. I park and check my email, calendar, address, everything to make sure I didn't have some kind of brain fart. Call DH who was heading over as well and confirm he thought it was tonight as well.

And yeah, no open house for us I guess. We think maybe not many people came so they ended early? But it was literally a ghost town 10 minutes after normal closing. So weird. I did call and leave a voicemail because I was a bit annoyed, first of all. Woke baby from a nap plus I put on jeans. Second, I'm just like wtf????

Not exactly sure.
Just saw an ad for someone running for Iowa senate. Talks about running this family business, will say it’s a successful business. I don’t think I will vote for her because she can’t be really smart to leave a successful business to go mess around in a state legislature.

It's pronounced KOOM - rhyming with boom. I learned it when I read Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer about a horrific and tragic day on Mt. Everest.

Now there is a good book! It led me into reading some other mountaineering books. Even though Everest is supposedly a giant long slog reading that cured me of entertaining that idea even if I had the money. Now a trip through Nepal with maybe a stop at Base Camp so I could see Everest would be pretty darn neat. Not too expensive it doesn't seem once you get there. Getting there would be the kicker though.

Whats everyones thoughts on frosting brownies?

Also, when do you eat them, fresh and warm out of the oven or wait a day or 2 to get chewy?

No reason to frost them, warm and gooey or chewy all is good, most important part is to have a glass of milk to go with them.

This seems to be the thing these days. A child in the 2nd or 3rd generation of a successful family business runs for office. I think its because they get bored with the family business because the previous generation did all the work and hired good people to run the business and the kids just don't have much to do.

Anyone have tips getting rid of fruit flies? Got a bad case at our house.
We've had a few this year and these are the steps we've taken. 1. We put out a bottle of vinegar with a little in the bottom. 2. We did the same with a bottle of wine. 3. We have a fruit basket we keep on our island. We put the fruit in the refrigerator. 4. We change our garbage and recycling bins in the kitchen more regularly. 5. After using the kitchen sink, we spray some chlorine cleaning solution into and around the drain

Evidently fruit flies really like the smell of vinegar and wine so they will fly into the bottle, but because of the narrow opening, it is more likely they'll drown than get out.

Slightly cavey. Minnesota folks - have you seen the Dean Phillips political ads (both pro and con)? I have no idea what he's running for but this is the most bizarre campaign I've ever seen. Basically, he is somewhere between Mother Theresa and Idi Amin.
