The sump pump, which has only run twice in the 13 years since I built my house, has been running about every 90 seconds or so for the last day and a half. The subsoil moisture must be at full capacity!

Going to the neighbors' for the game Saturday. I will be greatly outnumbered, but that's OK. I'm quite used to dealing with arrogant tavern hoks. Besides, they'll shut up soon enough when the Clones start to dominate. ;)

Side note: Many of you will be shocked to learn that the vixen is a hok fan - but I don't hold it against her. She's neither arrogant nor condescending....and besides, I love her.

After seeing the question' Who has the game taped', I wondered, why are we still saying taped. Does anyone still sell/make VCRs or tapes. It just really struck me how outdated VCRs are now. They were the new thing coming out when I was 5.

(I could google it, but decided not to.)

Not exactly sure.

My son's HS coach is so stuck in the 70s that i was surprised that he didn't hand out reels of film for the kids to watch.

They are getting tagged due to equipment issues. This is the first time that they have been able to have logos on their helmets in over 30 some years.

I bought my first VHS player from Sears in about 1985. Cost about $400. That was when they started to become more affordable. I have no idea what those original home top loaders cost.

I know dad bought a new TV and a VCR about the time they first started coming out. One was a grand and another was 1500. Not sure which was which.

Was going through a bunch of stuff in our storage room last weekend, and came across a box of old VHS tapes. Decided they were going to sleep with the worms. (I still have a VCR - it's a combo with a DVD player - just in case something comes up that I really need to save and/or view.)

Best to throw a magnet on those old......uuummm.... home videos before tossing, you never know who finds stuff at land fills. :)

"taped" is easier than "videoed" or "recorded" or "downloaded". I think it's a part of the lexicon that will take a long time to die out.
Yes - I say "taped". ;)

I refused to buy a player. I waited until the recorders were available. Same with the DVD - I wanted one that would also record stuff from the TV. Now I just have tivo and DVD players. :D

Take them to the Goodwill/Salvation Army. Better than a landfill...

You may want to check that first. I'm pretty sure that Goodwill hasn't taken typewriters and VHS tapes for some time now.

Of course every one might be a little different in that.

I kind of want a cheap VCR. Mrs. Velo has pretty much every Disney animated feature released prior to 1990 on VHS and it would be nice if they could be watched rather than just gathering dust.
