Im so ******* done with rain. Sewer line backed up, water in the basement, somehow water in the kitchen. So ******* done with all this ********. Make it stop @wxman1

I will take it under consideration.

The first job (or maybe two) that I can really look at applying to just rolled in.

One's a little iffy, but I'm a good fit. Religious Studies at VA Tech. They want someone in Religious Studies or something closely related who researches race and religion. I'd have a shot.

The other is really vague, as in all historical fields are open. It's in Manchester, UK, so who knows. That one needs more examination to see if it's viable.

I enjoyed the time I spent working at a supplier in Manchester.

Lots of **** down at Beloit College. There was a broken off limb, about 30 feet long, pretty good size, still hanging from the tree, about another 30 feet in the air. There was a perimeter of caution tape and barricades set up around it. Dumbass students lift up the tape, go under it, and walk right by the tree, completely oblivious to why the caution tape is there. The limb wasn't hanging by much.

Then, while the boss's son is firing up the chipper, some idiot walks right by the feed chute while I start to flip branches out from the brush pile, luckily I saw him before I let go of one. We had cones set up around us. Go the **** around. Everybody wants to walk in a straight line to where they are going. They don't want to be inconvenienced by a blocked path, so they make their best effort to go through instead of around. I get upset when I have to focus on both my job and other people's stupidity.
There is just no such thing as personal responsibility anymore. We had a small spot of uneven concrete and a woman fell and broke her knee. It went to trial and despite her admitting that she was reading a book (an actual physical book, this was before e-readers) and not watching where she was walking they awarded full damages to her.

Good news: Daughter's knee is doing exceptionally well.

Bad news: Mrs. Velo had dermatologist remove 3 spots last week. One was clearly basal cell carcinoma. Just got call that other two were also cancerous so she goes in tomorrow for more melon baller treatment.

One of my former supervisors has had Mohs -- think that's what you describing. Can take a while, but they check every layer as they go to get what they're there for and nothing more. Good luck to you all.

As I start into researching, it looks like Manchester is a very senior faculty position. The people with the rank they're talking about have published multiple books, so it doesn't look like they're talking entry level here.

Overheard LittleWx playing this morning before leaving. He mentions the name of our Golden that passed away a year ago. Then says "but he's in heaven with Jesus now". Dude why did you have to cut onions right before I leave for work?

I know religion can be a very touchy subject (just as I know you guys all know my positions on it :)) but I just had to tell you that made me smile. Not that your Golden is gone, but that LittleWx has that in his heart.

I always say God gave us dogs so that we would know about unconditional love.

This is one of my major pet peeves. I keep thinking about the lady who sued McDonald's (and won) because she spilled hot coffee in her lap.....that's the one that broke the dam. Heaven forbid anyone should ever admit they did anything wrong. (Well, adults anyway.)

/end rant

To be fair, that case was a little more than it appeared on the surface. The coffee was regularly served at 180-190 degrees F despite there being many cases of serious burns reported back to the restaurants. The woman required a lot of medical attention to repair the damage from the burns. The suit was over them providing a product that was dangerous. She would have likely gotten pretty badly burnt in her mouth and on her lips if she had not spilled it and instead tried to drink it. Most fast food restaurants serve their coffee in the more safe range around 140 degrees.

I get that part, and yes, she was injured far beyond what many were led to believe. I guess maybe it's from my POV, but I never put a beverage between my legs in ANY kind of seat as the potential to thighmaster the dang thing & spill it everywhere is pretty great. That said, the restaurant was in the wrong with the dangerous serving temperature.

I’m sure it ticks people off when you OP something and the first response is a smart butt one. I like doing it but know it’s pretty announcing.

@BoxsterCy im getting ads for fitness singles with an attractive woman riding her bike. Well, she’s actually straddling her bike and drinking water but I’m assuming she was biking at one point?

But is it affordable for a family of 3? I probably couldn't work.
Look into Christiansburg. They are basically one and the same now. I guess you could go on Zillow and check out prices of homes. I don't think it is any worse than other college towns.

Caution tape and barricades mean nothing to college students. I thought they were supposed to be smart.

They needed to repair the water main in front of husband's (and my) work, tearing up the whole street for about two blocks. Probably started the week before Memorial Day, JUST laid the asphalt down today. ANYWAY!

Last Tuesday, someone drove right into the construction...all dirt and a sharp dropoff, and didn't stop until they got to the intersection at the far end of the construction zone and couldn't go any further. Luckily missed a bunch of large construction vehicles. Husband said the lady was probably either drunk or high...very unsteady on her feet. (Don't believe she was taken away on a stretcher....so not a medical condition problem)

Really hoping the second part would of ended in a question.

Just don't go all "Fargo" on any of the students and you'll be fine, but if you do I bet they'll respect the caution tape after that.

Had to go into Walmart. While walking in, this woman is walking out. She starts pointing to her chest while looking at me. I get ready to say I’m flattered but I’m married, what I usually say, then notice it’s that ugly sideways Fred flint stone and I have an ISU shirt on. So instead I smile and give the I feel sorry for you look.

@Cyclones_R_GR8 , it's just a lg flip phone. On a good note took another phone up (similar style) with some of the same contacts, a different tech, he used the command order on that one to retrieve my stuff (couldn't see screen but the rest of it still worked) That really helped because a lot of the sales contacts I've just phone saved. So my 1st world problems were solved.

Velo, Congrats on daughters recovery, wishing Mrs. Velo a speedy and full recovery/healing.

Always amazes me how many Hawk fans want to try to escalate stuff. Most of the time if they say stuff I let it slide, but if I'm in the right mood, I'll go attack dog mode on them.
