So, got home last night, and went to pull into back into the driveway-- and it's full. Hit the garage door opener, and the door moved up about 2" and stopped. Asked Wifey-poo to give me a hand with it, but when I looked up, the two main springs were broke.

Earlier this summer, during the July heat wave, we were having some minor trouble with the door sticking about 2' up, but if you held the button on the remote down, or gave it a manual assist, it would open. Thought at the time that, due to a miscalculation by the wife on how much the garage door was open in relation to her backing out, and thus putting a bend in the bottom panel, that it was probably a combo of that minor damage and the heat expanding the door. My bet now is that one of the springs was broken at that juncture -- never occurred to me at the time.

I'm now wating on a return call from the overhead door company I called to get back to me on a fixit schedule.:(

There should be an adjustment you can make - last year mine kept coming down and then going back up again. I kept the booklet that came with it, and it showed me how to adjust when that happens.

Pretty crazy that both springs broke at the same time! My last garage door has a single torsion spring - I'd never go back to extension springs again.

I gave it a winner despite it being the Cards. :( Those seats are incredible!

I can't watch it on TV anymore unless it's October, and I honestly think (competitive college or pro) softball is more entertaining.

But a day at the ballpark? That beats everything.

Do you ever go to Wrigley? One great place to see a game, whether you're a Cubs fan or not. And afterward saunter down to Ditka's for a drink and post-game convo.

Not exactly sure.
Wife’s class reunion is next year. Have told her I would go to hers again when she goes to mine. She won’t agree that it.

Likes to point out I don’t go to mine. My response.........that’s my point.

Mine has an adjustment thing for both downward and upward tension. Until my springs broke and were replaced by heavier duty springs, I needed to adjust the tension early in the winter and in the spring.

What are you going to do if she goes to yours without you?

Yep, a day in the bleachers there is heaven. And I don't even like the Cubs.

Comiskey is a nice park, but it doesn't have nearly the attendance that Wrigly gets, and the atmosphere is pretty dead comparatively.

I usually enjoy those ABCMouse ads, but this one is really cheesy or sleazy. I think they set a new level of mom-shaming.

This alleged teacher mom talks about how she started taking her daughter's education seriously at 2 years old while the commercial shows stuff that anyone would know 2 year olds aren't doing.

Probably making a few million off of that ad, but that one was really awful.
I've noticed it too. Some of those ads are saying you have to start math at 2...
