We ended going to see a blues band on Saturday Night. The next day my wife said this, "There's all these people there that can dance really well... and you."

Weekend update time. Thanks for all the wishes y'all, much appreciated.

The service was beautiful and the preparer must have been very good because Grandmother in her casket looked great, to the point I had to walk away after viewing her for just a few moments. We all agreed that the secondary presenter needs to work on his singing voice a bit, but hey-- more power to him, it takes a lot of confidence to stand in front of a group of strangers and sing for them.

I knew we had tall genes in the family, but being around them all at once is something else. Normally I tower over everyone in any room in which I am standing. But here, even in heels, I was looking up at most of the men/boys.

Dad had three siblings-- my aunt, and his half-brother and half-sister (via divorce)-- and all were there. I only knew one of them well-- his full sister, who is my favorite aunt. She had four chlldren, all daughters, all cheerleader/majorette types who if I'm not mistaken every single one was homecoming queen. I haven't seen my cousins in years. Most memories are from when we were children, fighting over toys in grandma's house, or swimming in grandpa's pool. They were all great. Didn't skip a beat greeting me, had genuine smiles for me, and we chatted and gossiped together to the point that my dad had to drag me away when he wanted to leave. I think I'd still be there chatting with my two closest cousins even now if I hadn't been sharing the rental car with my parents.

One of my aunts even told my mom that she thought I was very attractive, and I fit in perfectly with my cousins. So that felt pretty damn great. And the cousin I hung out with most when we were young, lives in StL now and we have plans to meet up and introduce my daughter to them in October-- so DD will gain relationships with an aunt, uncle, and two cousins this fall!

I was sad that I had to fly out of there Saturday. But the one good thing about the flight time is the guy in line in front of me at the ticket counter swapped numbers with me, and the next time I'm in L.A., I've got a booty call if I need it. And damn he was good-looking too. rofl.

so glad to hear it went well! I mean, aside from it being a funeral part. You know what I mean.

Also, I had a dream about you last night. You were very keen to get a hold of whoever provided your trash service because you had a question for them but you were asking us. Also, your name was Kurt which I was like that can't be right at all.

So, I just went back & looked at mine.
Available funds ~$4.3 mill
Total, $3,833,172,235
Which number were you quoting?

Side note - apparently it has been running despite my not looking at it for months!
I guess it leaves cookies so it will remember where you left off. I'm not sure it actually runs. I am looking at my investment engine.

Local YMCA announces plans for new location to replace a dated building and apparently they can do nothing right. "It's not centrally located!"-Nope. Which neighborhood should they bulldoze to make centrally located. "They don't need that much space!"-Sigh "A family can't even afford a membership there!"- You are right a family that prioritizes other things above fitness and membership at a very nice new facility probably can't afford it.

@GTO you ever see “Let Me In” with Chloe Grace Moretz? I realize it’s 8 years old, but I was impressed. Not really scary at all, but very atmospheric, kind of like a dark vampire love story.
I actually have not watched that one. I did watch the original Swedish version a LONG time ago. Sometimes I do skip the remakes.

So, the job at Ole Miss would/will involve a course they hadn't mentioned, an upper-level history of the U.S. from 1789-1860, or to Yankee ears, "The slavery story."

I'll be prepping that course today and tomorrow to sell my version of it Wednesday morning.

Course description from their website: "This course examines the social, political, economic, and cultural history from the founding of the nation through the expansion of the frontier, market revolution, rise of plantation slavery, and the era of reform."

That's everything I do. It's like they wrote it for me, and selecting the dissertation chapter that spells all that out was probably a good choice.

I mean, if we can be serious for a moment, the reality it, in ten to twenty years, the overwhelming majority of the American population will have sent naked pics to someone at some point in their lives.
What is the deal with the unsolicited richard pic? I have yet to get that one that made me think to myself, "well, crap, hari, maybe I should have gone out with that guy after all!"

So, after a few years of trying, but failing every time, to successfully go 4 weeks with good-looking, painted, natural fingernails... I gave in and tried a full set of powder (fake) nails. The clincher for me was getting a rip across my thumbnail, horizontally, somewhere between halfway down the nail bed and the cuticle. After waiting a couple of weeks for that thumbnail to repair itself and regrow to almost fully cover my nail bed, I went to the salon and had them put on some fakes.

First thought: wow, these look great!

More thoughts over the next few hours/days:
1. Hmm. I forgot my job involves lots of typing.
2. Hmmmm. How in the &%$@ do I unclasp my necklace?
3. OwWW. My eyeballs! How the hell do I get my contacts out?!
4. Seriously. First my necklace, now I can't put the backs of my earrings on either??
5. Well. There goes my grooming budget. I'm going to have to buy a bigger tub of Cerave, because half of this one is now stuck between my nails and my fingers.
6. Holy $&%@, i can't button my top?!? FML..

You do realize, of course, that they call it "The War of Northern Aggression," right? :D
