Texas game Kickoff announced

They don't have a choice...

Schools have the right to retain one home football game for their Tier 3 platforms. Texas is already doing this with the Tulsa game. So for them to have a second game, there has to be an agreement. In years past, this agreement has included a clause that gives ISU the rights to broadcast on Cyclones.TV, so it made financial sense for ISU to agree to it. Without that clause, I fail to see how this benefits ISU and question why we agreed to it.

Could we have gotten $$$ to offset the value of the live broadcast?

No agreement to be had. ESPN had the first pick of games that week and chose our's. They then get to pick what channel they put it on and they chose LHN. We had no say.

Crazy that ESPN used their first pick that week on this game and put it exclusively on LHN. Granted there is a relatively weak lineup of conference games that week but still could have taken WV @ Okie St

It is a failure of the contracts that one of the team's athletic channels is an allowed option for ESPN to slot the game.

Link? As LHN is Tier 3, I dont think they can do that.

EDIT: NM, I see the release. Curious to why they have not exercised this option in the past. Guessing that they tried to work with ISU, but ISU wanted the right to broadcast, and Texas/ESPN found a loophole to get their way. Thats a loophole that needs to be fixed.

This just means to cancel everything going on that weekend and make a road trip! Should be plenty of tickets on sale on stubhub and the likes, not like their fans show up for games against any team that isn't already in Texas. Went in 2012 and there were easily a few thousand empty seats, even in the lower level. Could make it Jack Trice South ;)

And get no compensation? I don't know how this works...

CF should try to capitalize on this with a bus trip. I'd do that before driving or flying...

If this were any other Big 12 team I could see them wanting to boycott the game under this arrangement.
