2018 Cap City League

TL looks to have added quite a bit of muscle

He's bulked up mainly. He had a decent amount of muscle for a freshman last year. Looked really good last night, I was impressed with his aggression and abilities. Had a really good one handed dunk.

So I'm sitting and watching the games in my cargo shorts. My thoughts/observations:

Everybody (other than Lard and Weiler-Babb) was in the gym even if they didn't play.

THT is very smooth. I didn't even realize he had over 40 points. His 3 wasn't falling and he was probably trying to be a little to flashy but he looked the part.

Lewis played very well too even though the ball wasn't in his hands nearly as much as THT.

I don't know if Talley has always had a lot of backspin on his shot but it stood out to me. I don't think he'll be shooting many 3s this season. Other than that he ran his team well.

Haliburton definitely seems like a great team guy. He may not play a ton of minutes this season but he'll make the team better.

Jacobson has a nice stroke even though he wasn't hitting a lot of his shots. Rebounding is mostly about effort and he has that.

The play of the night was actually Prince from DMACC catching an opp and dunking over Murphy from Drake.

I was actually really impressed with Locure from North. He definitely looked comfortable making plays and hitting shots. That can't be said for Born from Norwalk.

This is a concern because that's always been the case. Some of his hype is predicated on him extending his range, but I'm skeptical. We don't need him or Solo to have an outside shot, but it would be nice if one of them could become consistent from three.

Right. A big who is mobile and can consistently hit the 16 footer can be nearly as effective at clearing out the lane.

Links to the videos that are supposed to take the place of Thompsonclone's? Are those the Matthew Bain ones?

Jacobson is a career 40% shooter, including 18% and 43% from 2 and averaged about 5 points/game. He's not a shooter. He averaged almost 5 rebounds a game and seems like a good team guy. Can come in and bang around when Solo or Lard need a break. That's what we're getting. Anyone expecting much more from a productivity standpoint is going to be disappointed.

The staff LOVES Jacobson

I guess you've missed most of the discussion surrounding Jacobson since he committed. A lot of posters are expecting him to be a solid outside shooter, and plenty have even said he will start over Young.

Yeah, his jumper has always looked pretty smooth. Just hasn't gone in that much. I wonder if maybe his shot mechanics haven't held up very well under game pressure. I hope he's not like Alex Thompson and is able to transfer that practice ability to games.

Is @Thompsonclone still allowed to do his? He broke them down by player.
Yeah I’m still allowed to do it. And honestly, if they told me to stop, I’d probably still do it. Are they going to kick me out of a free summer league game for promoting their league? Lol. I don’t think they have ever seen me film anyways. I’m very secretive about it. :) I’d probably just send the players their videos and it would be up them if they post them or not and I’d send people on here the highlights via text or something if they wanted to see the highlights. That’s if CCL banned me from posting.

I was unable to go yesterday as I was in a golf tournament at Briggs Woods in Webster City and I won’t be able to go next weekend because I’ll be in Brainerd, Minnesota golfing.

I will be there pretty much every time after that though and I will have highlights of every basket and every block by every Iowa State player.
