My sister's birthday is mid-August.

My poor mother.

Two nephews were born in early September. My SIL still went to the Iowa State Fair 2-3 weeks before the second was born. She ever so slightly regretted that...so I heard.

So, Milo the Dork is being exceptionally affectionate tonight. He keeps trying to cuddle, and has stepped on the keyboard a half-dozen times, taking me away from whatever page I'm reading. I finally yelled at him, and he sneezed.
All.
Over.
My.
Keyboard.

Freakin' PapaLew is about to bust a gut laughing, because I was the one that wanted (needed!) an affectionate cat after Garf died. I should have been more careful what I asked for.

I had no issues with being very pg in late July/early August. Dr said I was about the only patient he had that wasn’t swollen/miserable/complaining about the heat. She was born Aug 11. She came home Sep 21 during a nice heat wave, so it was just like we were bringing her home in Aug. :)

Had the most sustained hailstorm I’ve ever seen. You could see the clouds popping up to the west, had recently dropped the oldest off at softball. She doesn’t have her school permit yet so I told her I would pick her up when they were done and if they got done early she could find a ride. The lone senior on the team ended up bringing home 3 freshmen from our neighborhood when they got rained out. They got two dropped off before they decided to get this girl’s car into her garage. Our daughter just hung out there for while. She kinda laughed because the two dogs there acted like they did not like her (she rarely meets a dog that doesn’t like her). She figured they could tell she was a Cardinals fan. ;) The dogs are named Wrigley and Rizzo.

I feel like i need to take a Benadryl after reading this.

The closest I came to a hot weather baby was early June, although the one I miscarried had an August due date. Even the June one felt like my body temp was about 150. I lived in those sundress maxis all of May that year.

Make sure you hydrate like there is no tomorrow. I went to watch a niece in state tennis nine months preggo and every coach in the complex was handing me water.

Probs just wanted to watch me waddle to bathrooms.

May or June would have been ideal for a number of reasons but didn't work out that way. I'm just hoping this weekend isn't a sign of how the next couple months are going to be!

I've had a number of people tell me how awful and miserable it will be to be pregnant in summer (including some people who have never been pregnant) which can be.......unhelpful? In the moment? Like, the die is cast now guys, maybe give me helpful tips instead! Plus the house and work and car all have AC. I just wanted to be able to enjoy the outside as well. KC's situation does not sound fun at all!!!

Stopped at brother’s house when SIL was pregnant with late June baby. She was out weeding garden and looked like she had on a neck brace. It was one of those wrap ice packs. You might try using some of those cooling towels.

I am guessing dogs are more defensive when a new person is in their house and would have been fine with daughter if they met on street.

So many cats and dogs are named Wrigley and Rizzo now! What an honor lol.

AC would have made it bearable.

More on the plus side. If your feet and ankles swell you can just go barefoot or wear flipflops. Can't do that in January! Plus you don't have to buy a bigger parka that you'll never wear again. And a bigger parka is just going to have sleeves way too long for you. Also no need to wrestle with a sweatshirt or sweater built for two. Seems like summer is a winner for you. ;)

Seriously, I wish it could like this morning's weather all summer. Too bad it going to get 20 degrees hotter today but right now it's a beautiful sunny 76 with a slight breeze. Just perfect.

Apparently last night was cat show at the PapaLew/KC abode. When I was getting ready for bed, I found Molly on the bed with her pet mouse (had to double check, because Tab had a real one earlier in the evening). I took her mouse & threw it downstairs and explained to her that mousies do not come into the bedroom. She listened carefully, then laid back down on the bed again. She must have left at some point, because juuuuuust as I was dozing off, I hear scrabble scrabble on the wood floors under the bed. Holler at Molly and she goes flying out of the room. Caught up with her and put her moused in the toybox & closed the lid.
Back to bed again. Juuuuust dozing off & I hear meeeowr...meeeeowr. Varying volumes, every so often. Sometimes, that means a hunting cat has a mouse trapped under the stove or fridge, sometimes it means we accidentally shut someone behind one of the doors. So, I get out of bed again and start checking the rooms & closets with closed doors, shine a flashlight under the stove & fridge...
Finally narrowed the sound down as I was heading back to the bedroom. Took PapaLew's jeans off the top of the hamper (he never manages to open the hamper, but that's another story altogether...at least he gets close!)...open the lid of the hamper, and there's Tab. All 17 lbs of him, staring straight up at me and meowring.
I actually got some sleep after that...

Once you get kids in school, May is NOT ideal for a birthday. I did try timing our first for May since I was working in the schools and then would not have to take any unpaid leave. Now we have two birthdays in May and it is crazy busy this time of year. I finally promised the 7yr old an actual party this year. Not sure when it will be yet, birthday was two weeks ago.

The kids in 1st grade have had a birthday treat everyday the last 2 weeks of school due to May/June/Summer birthdays. Hubby’s is June and he loves having a summer birthday. Better weather than the 3rd of March. ;)

The weather was also a little crazy, I’m sure that was freaking them out a bit. With the hail it sounded intense inside the house.

That was a drawback for my boys. One was during summer break, the other was during Christmas break. Once they got to school age, I don't think either one of them ever had a birthday party on their actual birthday.

So hubby hates rabbits with a passion and has a B.B. gun to try and keep the population in check. He has not been too successful as of late. I went out the front door and a little one was eating my annuals on the front step. I scared him into the front landscaping. Hubby got him, I went to check it out. This stupid rabbit had convulsed all over, spraying blood all over the siding and rocks. Gross. Hubby got most of it off with the hose, storm should have cleaned off the rest.
