NBA: ***Official 2017-2018 Playoffs Thread***

Warriors will win in 5 against the Rockets and will sweep the Celtics in the finals. Going to be a boring few weeks in the NBA to close things out.

I think there's been a general overreaction to Game 1 in the East. I'm seeing a lot of people picking the Celtics now, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs bounce back with a win tonight to get a split in Boston and take the home court advantage.

NBA draft lottery tonight! If the Lakers get the 2-5 pick, it goes to the friggin' Celtics. How good is Danny Ainge?

As a Celtics fan, I was looking through this exact piece this morning. There is only a 2.9% chance of the pick landing in the 2-5 spot. The only chance is if the Lakers get into the Top 3.

There is no way the pick can end up in the 4 or 5 spots.

The more likely scenario is for next year's lottery as this is what will happen if Philly gets the LA pick tonight:

If the pick goes to the Sixers, Boston gets the better 2019 first-rounder between Sacramento and Philly, protected for No. 1. (If either pick lands No. 1, it goes to the Sixers and the Celtics get the worse pick.)

Even that is a pretty sweet deal for Boston. The Sixers will be good next year but the Kings will probably be in the running for a high lottery pick again.

Agree completely, just hope that the Kings dont win the lottery next year.

It seems like NBA off season and FA period is more exciting than the actual season and playoffs.

No overreacton at all. The Cavs are flawed in so many ways and the root of some of their issues is poor coaching by Lue. I don’t blame LeBron if he wants out.

I don't like Marcus Smart, but he was absolutely right to go after JR Smith. Trash play by Smith

Stevens is starting to get the best case player out of Smart. He was the best player on the floor other than James tonight.

As loaded as Golden State is, they may be fortunate that Boston is down two all stars. The way Boston started out the year I'd have loved to see a full strength season and then finals between those two...for one thing I think Boston likely has #1 overall seed if they're healthy all year which alone makes it interesting with GSW.

I laugh at the people in the Jordan v LeBron debates who think LeBron's teammates have always been worse or his opponents have always been better. That's simply not true to any great extent and probably a wash at best.

The much more legitimate argument a LeBron fan should make is that Jordan's coach(es) were much better. Doug Collins would be LeBron's best NBA coach without even getting to Phil Jackson. Whether LBJ himself has anything to do with this is a separate but interesting discussion.

Who wants JR on their team right now? Dirty plays tonight, cannot hit a jumper, and refuses to rotate on defense. Cavs have more problems than just JR, but damn he has been bad

Always been a chucker. Hits some circus shots, but a chucker. Not an ingredient for a winning recipe. Kind of the antithesis of the guys Boston has assembled.

I won’t get into that too much as I’m not a LeBron fan at all, but I’m absolutely confident Jordan never had to go against a team like the Warriors. That is just ridiculous and I will forever complain that the NBA should have never allowed the Durant trade to happen. I really think the Cavs biggest problem right now is coaching. They are terrible defensively and there is no creativity offensively. Celtics switch every screen and the entire team outside of LeBron and Love look totally useless.

This is easily the least talented team Lebron has been on in the last 10 years. I won’t get into how that compares with Jordan as I was too young to follow basketball in the 90s and don’t really care anyways.
