Big 12 Bowl Partners
Once the CFP has filled its bowl slots, Big 12 bowl partners will make selections from the remaining bowl eligible teams. Following is the order of selection. A bowl may pick from any available teams when it reaches its spot in the selection order.
Valero Alamo
Camping World
AdvoCare V100 Texas
AutoZone Liberty
Cactus
Zaxby's Heart of Dallas ????? (Armed Forces Bowl appears to have replaced it.)

Irrelevant. Only interested in the bowls we will be invited to.

I strongly dislike the big 12 bowl line-up

Goes back to Beebe and his inability to sell the conference. The B1G and the SEC took the other conferences behind the wood shed and he just sat back and took it like a man...

With 3 bowls in Texas and then the Liberty, I'm surprised the Texas schools go for it.

Staying in state lowers the cost to travel, generates more revenue and allows for a mass fan crowd to attend. The bowl kinda suck but I can see why the Texas schools (state too) would like it.

The dates on most of these bowls are horrible. Right after chrismas (catus) really hinders the travel for most fan bases.

The only thing I hate about the Big 12 bowl package is the games on the 26th. I would absolutely go to Dallas or Phoenix for bowl games (places to stay in each town), but that day is a non-starter, period.

Alamo Bowl or Camping World would be perfect this year. Take off Friday, NYE on Monday & NYD on Tuesday gives you a 5 day weekend.

A very early all-in for Florida and the Camping World game.

Reading a little further I came across this:

Independent Bowl Ties, Affiliations
– Army, New Mexico State, and UMass don’t have direct bowl ties or affiliations.

– BYU was supposed to be tied into the Poinsettia Bowl this year, but that no longer exists. However, it has a deal with ESPN to be assured a bowl slot somewhere if eligible and not in the College Football Playoff.

What????

I thought ESPN only broadcasted all of the bowls, now I find out they get to decide who gets to go as well.

Yep, especially Phoenix. If that Bowl was at least a day or two later I suspect Cyclone fans would travel very well to that bowl once again. With it being a day after Christmas it's a no-go for a lot of people unfortunately.
