Random Thoughts XI (Eleven Pipers Piping)

Sat in a waiting room at st Mary’s. Some dude had his phone a little too loud. Getting his a$$ chewed by a woman (wife or girlfriend maybe). Obviously sitting there for a surgical procedure it seems (hopefully not the female on the phone). I wasn’t next to him either.

Has anybody seen What We Do in the Shadows? It's about vampires trying to live a somewhat regular life in Wellington, New Zealand. It's the funniest movie I've seen in a long time.

Loved that movie. Watched it about 3-4 months ago. My favorite scenes were them going out clubbing and interacting with the werewolves.

Just had a salad for lunch with fat free dressing (all they had). It blew.


Wonder if the piece of apple pie I grabbed afterwards still made it healthy. Fruit pie you know. Gotta be healthy. To be honest I have had cravings for fruit pie. (Figured I better add fruit or else I’d get some perv responses)

About 10 years ago they ran the Directors Cut in the theaters as part of the 30th anniversary. I had never seen it in the theater so I definitely went to see that.



When we were kids we went to the Catskill Game Farm. You could buy food for the deer there as well. The deer knew it and you would stand there with about 10 deer around you nuzzling you to get you to feed them.

The added scene I can't get out of my head is when Ripley is trying to find the cat and stumbles into the room where the alien has webbed everyone to the wall.....they're still alive.

I think you still need a card, but I would think your good. Plus you'll probably have to take her or the whole family out for dinner however you guys do that.

Mom goes back for her chest X-ray. Lady comes out and yells a name. 4 of us there. 3 of us look at each other while older wheelchair lady keeps yapping on her phone 3 feet from the nurse. Nurse yells it twice more. We all shrug. After a couple minutes phone lady gets off the phone and responds that it’s her. Nothing like holding up progress.

I can't get the image of deer sticking their noses in the corn hole out of my head.

I hate it when I get busy with work, catch up on RTT and all of the good jokes have already been taken.

For me it was always merthiolate. I hated that stuff. And instead of using something like neosporin my parents used black salve.

I'm not sure if it's the same stuff, but my mom always used some tar-like substance with a very generically written "drawing salve" on it.

It smelled like diesel.

Not Vin Diesel. It probably smelled better than that.

I did the same thing for mine on Saturday. Not expecting anything--he asked me a couple times if I had ordered anything yet (I had). I just ask for some night that I don't have to cook and I get to pick what it is.

Really starting to hate our yard. We live on a fairly steep hill (especially the back yard) and it starts steep levels off for 10 feet or so and then falls back off until you get about five feet from the deck when it levels off around the deck/house but continues a gradual downward slope toward the front of the house and street. Thus when there is snow melt or the ground is really wet it can be a mess...especially with a big dog. I am not a fan of it but I am coming to grips that I am going to have to do some crappy landscape stone thing or something to try and cover up/prevent the mud pit that a couple of areas become.

I'd agree. I was hooked at the opening scene when they had the flat meeting and were complaining about the pile-up of bloody dishes. Another great one is when Viago brings his date back to the flat and hopes she's enjoying herself because it's her last day alive.

What about that lady they kept as a familiar for over 10 years but would not turn her into a vampire so that she could do all their chores/errands? That movie was great.

Yep same stuff goes by drawing salve, black salve or petro-carbo salve.

Struggled to get rolling tonight. Switched to my writing playlist, a Pat Benatar one on Spotify, and the words rolled like they always do with those songs.

I've seen a director's cut of Aliens, but this scene leads me to believe that I have not seen a director's cut of Alien. Must locate now.
