Recruits stats and Senior performance

One thing to note is I don't believe Haliburton will be much of a scorer in college. He also must have good and patient shot selection because from following their box scores, he's very efficient from three. Oshkosh North has put 13 of their 19 box scores up from the season and Haliburton is 14 for 27 from three in those games.

I watched part of the Chicago Public School championship game last night. THT was the MVP and is very good on both ends of the floor. He has some of the same skills as Burton, except I think he has a higher basketball IQ (not quite up to Niang, but good). THT could be hard to keep on the bench.

Let's hope so...I think many fans are counting on it, or at least seriously hoping.

No one redshirts any more. I don’t think you can recruit well with that. I don’t think we’ve redshirted a non-transfer since SDW and how did that work out? You either stick and contribute right away or show the promise to the staff that you can contribute in the near future or you leave. It’s a little different with a guy like Conditt that has a unique body type but I still don’t think you redshirt him you just give him a longer leash in terms of development time than a guard.

Having agreed with this, it has worked well for big guys for McDermott and like Wisconsin in the past, tho.

CIMD watched THT a week ago and said he is the real deal. He said he does need to work on his shot though.

Technically Lard is the last redshirt, but outside of injuries or eligibility issues I agree that redshirting isn't really worth doing anymore.

I bet he's a starter by conference play

I think redshirting has become more common. Wisconsin is the obvious example, but Baylor does it a lot too. I think TCU had a guy do it as well this year.

THT is really a good facilitator with the ball in his hands. I think he will be a dynamic player from day one.

Siap. You can see how big of guard THT is. Also, the pg #0 is a good player. A junior. If he grows a little more...

I watched Justin Patton for Creighton go from redshirt to lottery pick after 1 season. Would be so, so valuable for George if he did it.

I am sure it is an option for George to RS. He and his Dad are on record that he had the late growth spurt and needs to add strength/weight.
That said, before we declare in February that a red shirt is the plan. The decision can wait till he gets on campus and performs with the team leading up to the season. A player with his length and body control could surprise and help a team, especially if injuries hit. For instance If he was on this years team he'd be playing for better or worse.

I'm all for leaving it completely up to the player (which is what I think Steve Prohm will do after evaluating his readiness and having a discussion with him).
