No. 1 Simeon wins a 3rd straight Public League Playoff title with a 69-59 win over No. 2 Orr. Talen Horton-Tucker with 23 points, 10 rebounds for Simeon. The Wolverines now have 9 city titles in school history. First team to win 3 straight city titles since Marshall (1958-1961).
Marshall is legendary in Chicago. This is a big accomplishment.

Haliburton and THT are going to be a long backcourt, and Tyler Harris would really complement those two. If they grow anymore our future backcourt will have more length than some of our recent frontcourts. Both will add some natural passing ability that we currently miss.

Maybe it's Harris or somebody in the 19 class but we are really going to need to have a guy that can stay in front of super quick ball handlers.

Good win for Tyrese and his team. Without starting an old discussion again, can his outside shot be tweaked to have a higher release or do you not mess with something like that? On a side note, McCabe is going to be a thorn in our side for four years playing for Huggins.

What about THT's teammate, Clements, who is a junior? Seems to be getting a lot of praise and has good stat lines, but no clue if he's a high major recruit and/or is already committed to someone. Just going by THT saying he's the best pg in the state, but he's kinda biased. lol

Hopefully that’s Wigginton for the next two years. We could be pretty inexperienced at guard after next year. That hasn’t worked out so well this year.

A lot more career starts coming back next year than this year.
This is tangential, but what's the last non-Duke, non-Kentucky team to do really well with a freshman as the primary point guard? Sexton and Young come to mind, but neither's team is what I'd call especially dangerous come March (at this point). When was Kansas's last starting point guard that stayed in college fewer than three years?

I said after next year...unless THT starts next year it’ll be similar to this year. To have consistent success inexperience must be overcome. We don’t know who will be here for that season, but it’s a decent chance it’s a first time starter in THT and very inexperienced young guards.

Wiggy is hopefully the answer for the near future but to sustain we need to reload every aspect of the roster every other year. Regardless only having one guy on the roster with that ability makes us vulnerable.

Correct. I think we’ll add at least a combo before we lose Wigginton though.

But if not, we’d have the roster to be an effective zone defense team.

I watched part of the Chicago Public School championship game last night. THT was the MVP and is very good on both ends of the floor. He has some of the same skills as Burton, except I think he has a higher basketball IQ (not quite up to Niang, but good). THT could be hard to keep on the bench.

His shot reminds me more of Lonzo Ball than Naz.

Ball is a better comparison in my mind. Haliburton's shot is a slower than most but I wouldn't advocate scrapping it and rebuilding it if it is effective. That can lead to a whole new set of issues (ask the 76ers) PG with size are can get their shot of cleanly with out being prototypical form.

Secondary advantage of his size is he use it can contribute in many ways if he's not shooting well or if moved off the ball. His rebounding is quite good for a guard and he has some high potential as a defender. Garrett is another popular comparison (tall PG, from Wisky) who was able to contribute right away with out having a consistent jumper until CFH came. I am not sure we see him much next year but I am not immediately earmarking him for a RS.
