Just read that John B. Anderson died. I voted for him in 1980. An extinct breed, a fiscally conservative guy who developed liberal social views. Started out as a lock in step Goldwater conservative but changed over time and by the 70's he was viewed as very independent. Actually even by the late 60's when he cast the deciding voted to move the Fair Housing Act to the floor. No place for guys who voted for what they think is right over party these days.
A very young Velo worked the Anderson for President booth an entire very long day at our county fair. The good news was I got really good at filling and tying off helium balloons.

I perfected my helium balloon skills working at Drugtown in West Ames back in the day. I also mastered useful life skills like key-making and selling beer to my (I'm-pretty-sure-they-were-legal) friends.

Fun to inhale the helium and freak people out with the Munchkin voice. I worked at a t-shirt/head shop for awhile and discovered the joys of nitrous oxide. Those days are long gone.....

Not exactly sure.
We have a wedding the day after the bowl game in Independence I believe. Daughter and son have practice that day (yes on Saturday) so we may be staying home. A chance though. Seeing how daughter is truly the only one who can handle the ball on JV, most likely they wouldn't start her and just hold her until the first dead ball, which would be their first possession due to traveling, double dribbling or losing it out of bounds.

Who schedules a wedding for New Year's Eve?

I still haven't made up my mind about the bowl game. I should just buy a ticket and go.There are still hotel rooms in Germantown. Can just cab/Uber to Beale Street.

Of course the last 3 ISU games I attended were Texas, Okie State and KSU.
Not a very good track record when I am in attendance.

My wife's family apparently. Btw, I expect this to be a dry wedding reception. 90% of my wife's family believes that if you are not passed out drunk, you aren't having fun. This is the 10%, which we are more like.

Making keys? Like for your key club? Informative.

Freshman in college Cooler was waaay too shy for that sorta stuff. Now, sophomore Cooler....yeah no, not my cup of tea.

Somewhat relevant to the topic, I do have a story about a creepy dude from that period in my life.

The guy at Drug Town that trained me about making keys was a real dirtbag. He was one of those guys that makes some really loud off-color and crude jokes that makes everyone around him uncomfortable.

One day while I was training, this cute girl came up to have a key made. He proceeds to ask her for a form of identification before he can make the copy. Store policy, he says. He makes a copy and matches it up to her key. It looks good to me. He said he "grabbed the wrong key" and proceeds to make another copy.

I didn't think anything of it at the time because it happened so fast and I was training, but I later realized that this guy got this girl's address and key to her apartment without her knowledge. I hope nothing more ever happened because I'd feel horrible for not catching it and acting on it, but I'd almost guarantee that guy spent time in prison at some point in his life.

I've been to a NYE wedding and reception - definitely not dry.

At college job I learned nitrous oxide is a propellant in some canned whipped topping.

No, it's basketball. For tonight's game. Cool presentation video, but I'm just not a fan of the anthracite uniforms. I'd rather see them stand out in cardinal. But some d-bag seems to think I should just shut up because I prefer our actual team colors.

I heard that they were an ugly three colors of gray. Is that true?

I can't say I was a huge fan of the gray/black uniforms last night. Game was fun though, wish they would have played a little better defense, liking our chances against Iowa though. Sister went with, 1st time she's been to a game for a while she had fun.

Winter has really caught up even though it wouldn't be too bad if the wind would die down. Need to get stuff ready for next week for my job. It'll just make my life easier if I do the prep work now.

I thought the gray uniforms were ok, don't really care about uniforms. Would have been better with school colors somewhere, but I would be fine watching them play in white t-shirts and $3 Russell gym shorts. For some, it is apparently a traumatic ordeal if the uni doesn't meet their fashion standards.

Nope, not a traumatic ordeal. I prefer seeing cardinal and/or gold somewhere on the uni, though.

The only thing I really care about is being able to read the numbers. Can't do that from our top of the south end zone seats with the anthracite football uniforms with the cardinal and gold numbers, although easy to see numbers on our other home uniforms. Not sure if the white numbers were easy to see from nosebleed Hilton seats, they showed up well on TV.
