Bowl Game Projections

Would someone post the list of payouts for each bowl - please? I looked, but couldn’t find a diff native source.

Payouts should not drive our desire for any particular bowl. The conference splits all net bowl proceeds equally. Even the last several years, when ISU did not bowl, we got a share of bowl revenues. The school does not keep the money, so it does not matter which bowl we attend.

There are two exceptions to the above. (1) As a conference, we will all do better if we get 2 teams in the CFP instead of one, or three teams in the CFP/NY6 instead of two since the CFP and NY6 bowls pay out way more. (2) Each bowl has a "budget" that I believe is approved by the conference. So getting into a better bowl means ISU has a larger budget to spend on bowl expenses, making it easier to take the band, etc if JP wants or larger swag bags for the players. That is why I said net bowl proceeds are distributed equally.

I'm going to go ahead and disagree here. Josh Adams was a contender for the Heisman..... He's got more yards on fewer carries. I think Montgomery is an elite back in making people miss and finding the hole, but Adams is a better overall back.
.....

The Heisman comeback was predictable, but if Adams was not a Domer playing behind two first rounders, there would be no hype. You will not convince anyone on this board that Adams is a better back.
I'm not anti-ND. Watching Lindsey Nelson every Sunday morning was much see TV for our family. I've watched a lot of Irish football including the low times when I was in South Bend watching nuns walk out at halftime because they could take any more Gerry Ball.
Yes, I'm a Cyclone homer, but big program prestige or not, I would not trade DM for anybody. OK, maybe Barkley.

P.S. Talking about stats, look up who is the ALL TIME broken tackle college back.

Just looking at Allegiant right now. For 2 adults to fly out of Des Moines to Orlando (fly to on 12/26, come home on 12/30), its just under $1000.00 right now. Was hoping it would be less than that, but it makes sense that time of the year.

Thank you!

Have some big plans for 2018 and unable to make the bowl game this year. Would the official bowl game watch be at Whisky River in Ankeny or Keg Stand in WDSM?

Call in show Pollard made it sound like if TCU wins this weekend, that would mean OU and TCU in New Years Six Bowls. Therefore, Iowa State would almost certainly go to Orlando.

If OU wins this weekend, we fall below Orlando and could end up anywhere below that.

I disagree with the second part unless TCU absolutely gets throttled. ND will drop out of the top 12 tomorrow and WSU, MSU lost badly last week. I just don’t see anyone jumping TCU for a NY6 bowl.

Have those RB's switch teams and then compare numbers. If DM could run behind an OL that was actually made for run blocking, he would destroy teams. Basically, DM is currently creating his own yardage every time he gets the ball by breaking tackles, not by running through lanes created for him.

As a Notre Dame fan as well I disagree with your disagreement. If DM is running behind ND's offensive line, particularly the left side with McGlinchey and Nelson, he exceeds Adams's numbers.

Sure, and put Matt Campbell as the coach of the Irish and they run the table. That's not how it works, you don't get to switch backs for the bowl game. Adams has been a better back yardage wise this season. He has more yards in less carries which also means he has a higher average for his yards per carry. You can talk about better lines and whatnot, but those types of hypotheticals don't win football games.

The rankings tonight will tell us what TCU needs to do to make the NY6. Pay attention to where Washington and Notre Dame are ranked, and cheer for USC to beat Stanford on Friday.

Sounding more and more that Iowa State would need TCU to win Saturday to get chance at Camping World Bowl in Orlando. For what that's worth.

Listening to Jamie this morning on KXNO, it sounded like this as well. It also sounded like Campbell is pushing for the Liberty Bown (for more practices). I think we'll have a more clear picture once the new CFP rankings come out.

I agree. OU has to make the playoff. Best for us in the long run and more money for ISU. Screw the B10. Who cares?

The problem is our "Championship Game" set-up. One way or another every year we will either knock a team out of the play off or a NY6 bowl no matter who wins.

OU winning is the best for the conference and best for ISU. The Big 12 really needs to get back into that NC series and OU winning will move everyone up one bowl slot. If TCU wins both OU and TCU will be left out and someone worthless like Ohio State will get in. Not that they are better, it is just what will happen.

I don't necessarily agree with this. As long as TCU gets a NY6 we will go to Orlando.

I agree with you there as well.

I think we should know a bit more tonight or have a better idea with the rankings and seeing where some teams are located as mentioned above.

It's hard for me to imagine the B12 not getting a team to a NY6 bowl.

They just seemed destined to the Cotton, IMO.

Maybe not if they get blown out by OU.

Yep, sounds like if OU wins (which I fully expect them to), then ISU will be headed to Memphis.

Not the most desireable destination from a weather and tourist standpoint, but from a "fan travel" and fan support standpoint it is bar none the best option.

Memphis will be flooded in cardinal and gold.
