A few thoughts about Texas after watching the Texas/USC game last night.
- When their defense was clicking, they looked really difficult. Similar to Iowa's defense, but more athletic. They were opportunistic, especially on their two interceptions. One was a tip ball and one was a high throw. Both things that could be an problem for us with the amount of drops/high-throw, tip-balls we have had in the first three games.
- Their WR Johnson, #9, could be tough. Similar to Lazard/Butler in size and skill set. And he was lining up on the right side quite a bit and was successful over there. That has been the weak side of our pass defense the last couple weeks.
- When USC was able to get pressure on the Texas' QB Ehlinger, he would get flustered and was prone to make mistakes. That may be a major key in the game for our D.
- Overall, this is stacking up to be a similar matchup to what we saw with the Iowa game. Our strength, offense, vs their strength, defense. And with two weeks for both teams to prepare, it would seem that both teams will be well scouted and prepared for each other's strengths/weaknesses.
