Are you wanting to teach? DMAAC is looking for adjunct instructors in everything. The pay I think is horrible, but probably meets your other criteria. They call one of my retired brothers every year trying to get him to adjunct math and he only has a BS. But it pays much less per hour than substituting K-12.

Not at all. My wife is really militant about not missing school unless it's for an appt or a family emergency. I think she was hoping for a green light from the district. I really only sent the E-mail to appease her. I was anticipating a similar reply from the school, but I was hoping for a "we understand that some families may wish for their child to experience this first-hand" type of comment as well.
The fact that he completely skirted my question (which was the whole reason for the E-mail in the first place) kinda cemented my choice in pulling my daughter out for the day.
I'm sure Chris would pay you handsomely to moderate the new History Forum that he's been working on. You could be making @bawbie money in no time.

Found an adjunct spot on DMACC site. I've been scrolling there for weeks, and it was gone.

Something that pays even worse but would be sort of history related would be Special Collections in the library. One of my sons worked there. The student jobs are slightly above minimum wage. People are nice. Job is easy. Since you are still working on dissertation, not sure what you are looking for in pay. One of my sons also did instructional support classes or whatever you call them, I think that's right? He did differential equations, but they probably have history ones. I assume you could also tutor in history? Not sure what the demand is there, my sons have lots of friends who have used tutoring in STEM classes.
I wonder if they are universal for all Iowa CC in case Fort Dodge or Marshalltown has an opening?

Marshalltown is a different CC district.
DMACC is its own beast. I'm pretty sure Fort Dodge is, too.
MCC had an adjunct opening for like one class. I didn't even want to run the #s on the money we would lose there.
With my adult sons (one undergrad, one working on PhD dissertation, and one full fledged adult with two degrees and a job, all in STEM fields), one thing I have helped them do is create an entire job history from the teen years on, as well as every residence they have lived in forever. And every time they move to new crappy student housing or get another crappy student job, I update the documents if I see in Google docs they haven't done so. A lot of the jobs and internships they have applied to require security clearance that needs this stuff. And life is just easier if you have that info and keep it updated,

Thankfully, history jobs dealing with the 19th century don't worry much about security.
If I were a 20th century historian, that can be a whole different deal. I have a friend dealing with Cold War national security issues, and he gets to go to some places I can't dream of seeing.
But then again, a lot of my things are available free if I do the work.

Got a solution that solves the situation for both of you. Our school starts the 23rd, so just move here and you can make school and watch the eclipse.
But that would mean leaving Kansa....

But they did make up a job that sounds weird to get your governor out of there, so there's that going for you.
I don't think a lot of schools start in Iowa before the 23rd.
Have you asked your child which she would rather do, school eclipse stuff or cooler eclipse stuff?
