RECRUITING: Hans Brase sets official visit (COMMITS)

Has Hines or Randy confirmed it yet? I know Pete is usually a day or two behind

McNeill will be a starter

I like your style. I am hoping he is the next Naz Long archetype -- underwhelming freshman year after being recruited, but makes coach play him as a sophomore.

Seems to be a hard worker with a lot of upside. Embracing the life of a shooter, born to put the ball in the hoop, rather than a PG distributor, might help him, too, like it did Naz.

Why would you prefer that he's underwhelming his FR year?

Haha. Got me there.

Of course, I would prefer for any of our four freshmen to be impact players from Day 1. I just figure Wiggi and Lewis are the more likely ones to do that.

McNeill is an exciting development with upside, though.

I would love for him to prove me wrong and be the next Wesley Johnson as a freshman.

And go into this...

Wigginton
McNeill
Shayok
Lewis
Young
---
Green
Weiler-Babb
Thompson
Lard

...for 2018-2019.

So is the fact that Jakolby Long keeps getting left off of roster list just a mindslip or is there something about his performance that I've missed? Seems like he was rated pretty well coming in and has had a year to practice against some great guards, so I'd think he'd be ready to step up and compete for playing time.

Mind-slip I'd say. He's really an unknown quantity at this point as he was behind 6 really high quality guards last year. Has the build, has the reputation coming out of high school, has a year under his belt. He very well could surprise everyone.

I had McNeill OR Long on an earlier one.

I was just rolling with @FinalFourCy that McNeill would be a diamond and a rough and construction of a rotation around that assumption/fixed point.

Morris, Thomas, Mitrou-Long, and Jackson is a tough act to follow and be behind on Long's part. I hope that he will emerge this year -- as I will with all of them.

We basically hit the reset button on our roster. No way to know how it will shake out when it comes to starting and the rotation in November and by March.

But speculation is fun. :)

And infinitely better defender. Vanderbeken was a traffic cone.
His lateral quickness wasn't great, but JVB was a lot better than he gets credit for on CF. We haven't exactly had many that have been better since. He was often the scapegoat due to being the last line of defense on a bad defensive team.

I just think Beverly is going to be too versatile and hard working to keep out of the starting line up (though that makes up a good sixth man too). Lard may take some time to acclimate too, and I doubt they want to overwork Brase until he really gets his feet under him.
