Orrr... he is from East St. Louis5-Star big man Jeremiah Tilmon (#25 overall) just asked to be released from his Illinois LOI...yep, he is now listed as a MIssou probable. I wonder if a Tilmon relative is joining the Missou coaching staff?

Martin is from ESL though, and has family that works in the ESL school. A big advantage to MU without needing to hire guys to establish connections. The two schools are almost the same distance from ESL....and ESL is in Illinois....not sure that gives Mizzou much of a geographical advantage.
I am betting Mizzou will be blocked when they release him.
Blocking isn't a good look usually.
Especially since there was a coaching change with both schools involved. It's not like Underwood is the most loyal coach in college basketball.
And Underwood strikes me as someone who would definitely follow through on a block if he thought a school had undercut him.I don't think it is looked down on when there is a strong possibility of tampering.

How would you know there was tampering? There are so many ways around tampering through back channels and so forth. It's far more likely that it was initiated by Tilmon and/or by player to player contact.
If Underwood blocks Mizzou, he may as well write off East St. Louis for a few years. Either way, he won't have Tilmon next year.
Martin was just visiting his sister, of course. It'll be hard to prove tampering.Wasn't the day after Tilmon said he was sticking with Illinois that Martin visited his HS?
Didn't WI end up removing the blocks? And WI isn't exactly a conventional recruiter- most of their higher ranked kids are local or they're getting guys in which they're the best offer. If Underwood Blocks Missouri. He can still easitly go to East St. Louis if he has a Schollarship for a player. I don't buy this type of stuff one bit. Sure it's nice if he allows the kid to go to Mizzou but so far it has not worked against Wisconsin who has blocked people. They are still getting kids. Basically it comes down to a player and if he feels comfortable with the coach. Not what happened to another player. Unless those two are really close to each other.

Missouri may be loaded next year. 4 star pg Blake Harris, 5 star SF Kevin Knox, and 4 star combo guard CJ Roberts are all in Columbia this weekend. If they land those kids and Tilmon they're a tough out.
**Missouri is having a huge weekend with both Kevin Knox and Blake Harris on campus. Michael Porter Sr. is the drawing card for both players. The 6-foot-10 Porter Jr. was already slated to play with Harris at Washington before both decommitted following Lorenzo Romar’s firing and Porter Jr. would love to have both players join him now that he’s at Mizzou
