Bill Self praising ISU right now

I was hoping to play someone new. Not to mention, KU fans have been buying up those tickets for at least a month now. Need to get past the first two games (not easy), but I don't have any excitement for playing KU again.

Can we just beat Nevada first...

The guys have been in the right mindset during this run. Need to keep that focus and intensity. We've had too many letdowns when we've gotten ahead of ourselves to get too cocky. Nevada will give us everything, and even though the MWC is down this year they won the regular season and conference titles in that league. This will be a much tougher first-round game than Iona last year, and even more than that other team 2 years ago (look how that went). Gotta think Monte, Matt, Naz won't let that happen again - it's their last ride.

I do think it's kind of weird they put them in the same pod. It's like they didn't want the two best Big 12 teams both getting past the sweet sixteen

That's Self's MO: pre-season, every team in the B12 he says should be favored over KU; he says they have to play the POY from every team. Until the season ends, then he switches.

Call me crazy but it would not surprise me at all that Kansas will not make it out of the round of 32. Miami or Michigan State will be a quite formidable foe for Kansas.
I've thought the same thing. I can guarantee you KU and their fans aren't thrilled to see us but having to possibly play Izzo in March? Tough draw for Kansas. Miami matched up with them really well too.

Sucks that the two best Big 12 teams are in the same sub-region, plus Ok St in the region. The Big 12 doesn't even have a chance to do well.

I love personally love the draw, because we match up well with them and they only have 4 "dudes". I'm pretty sure the rest of them still wet the bed

...but name another Power 5 conference that the regular season and tournament champ could meet in the Sweet 16. I think it's a pretty ****** draw for KU personally. Might not even come to pass, but I hope hope hope the matchup does.

First off, that's going to be a very small sample size. It would almost require two teams from a power 5 conference and a split champion to even enter the discussion. With that said, the Big Ten regular season and tourney champions are also in the Midwest region, but couldn't meet until Elite 8.

So zero. ... which is my point, there's only a half a dozen good conferences and they didn't reshuffle teams to avoid this scenario in the Sweet 16 for the B12. No one else has this issue.

After that all bets are off and you can't assume anything. Like I said, I personally like the draw, but I have a feeling KU fans feel differently.

I think Self and Fred are at least friendly if not friends and partly because of the success ISU has had he respects ISU to a certain degree. The difference between Self's respect for ISU when Fred was here is I think Self always thought he could handle Fred because Fred's teams never played much defense and in the end Self probably always thought he would get the better of Fred. Now with CSP things have changed a little because CSP wants his teams to defend and they do a much better job and let's face it defense will get us farther and Self knows that.

Whatever helps him deal with the season-ending loss we're preparing to deal him.
I never like to get ahead of myself. We have to get the chance to destroy Kansas, before we can. That doesn't mean destroying Kansas is forever on my list of top priorities.

Used to be disallowed altogether. Only reason it happened this year was b/c ISU was considered "4th place" in the Big12.

"Teams are spread out according to conference. The first three teams selected from each conference must be placed in different regions. When a conference has more than three teams in the tournament, the committee tries to seed the teams so that they cannot meet until the regional final. Before 2006, this was an absolute rule. However, in the summer of 2005, the NCAA changed its rules to allow intraconference matchups as early as the second round of the tournament, assuming all measures to keep the teams apart until the regional finals have been exhausted."

I'm actually not sure the committee followed the above "assuming all measure..." part. Based on the above, they could have sent us to a different region or they could have made us the 6-seed in the Midwest.

Yeah they're not happy at all about it.

As a 1 seed, my worst fear would have been ISU, OSU or Michigan. I would want nothing to do with any of them. Put on top of that ISU already having beaten them at home and I understand. Obviously ISU wasn't going to be a 3 so someone had to deal with it but it would suck if you were Kansas.
